And you know, I remember as a good memory, even a tender one, my father, who was a drunk, being so relax, being so happy during the Dean Martin show. He laughed, he was in a great mood; the whole family was happy with him. To this day, one of my favourite pop artist is Dean Martin. To me, he has a soft, velvet voice. To me, his voice is the sound of happiness, when my own dad was happy and laughing, and when we were all penetrated by the romance of his songs. To this day, Dean Martin is one of my favourite public persona ever!

I recommended him some Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks and I'm pretty sure he dug it. I can't remember the artist he had given me before that made me suggest what I did but I also enjoyed that.

I urge all Americans to listen to the lyrics on this song. It's up there with Paul Simon's great trilogy - America, American Tune and Graceland. When Martyn writes about America it's like listening to Steinbeck with a guitar. Fabulous guy and a very supportive friend. He tours the USA every year. Catch a gig and you won't regret it.

Interesting. Over here, the Conservatives preach distribution of power but concentrate it instead. Labour preaches centralisation and largely follows that principle through. So on that point there's little to choose between the major parties.

It's also nicely ironic that the Tories rail against EU centralisation in Brussels but are dead against giving further autonomy to the likes of Scotland and Wales.

But then, all conservatives, in my experience, are pragmatic compromisers at best and out and out hypocrites at worst.
