Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
Robot as a word was invented by the Czech writer Carel Kapek in his story R.E.R.... though this was later than Frankenstein. I don't think that monster was quite a robot though, was he?

Last Exit to Brooklyn.
I enjoyed it but there is a lot more that I would like to know! I guess I will have to read the book
The book is different from, but miles better than the film and also explicit in a way you could not get into a film outside the porn genre...I suggest you read it and then watch Satantango (I am now on a mission...)

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
The last movie I saw was "Attack the Block", an English sci-fi movie that was released in the U.K. and Ireland on May 13 and will be given limited release in the U.S. on July 29. This movie was shown in June at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was given a special showing last night (Fourth of July) at the New Beverly Theater in Hollywood. The director of the film, Joe Cornish, was there to give a Q&A after the film.
The story takes place in South London, London's roughest neighborhood consisting of housing projects and gangs. A group of teen muggers terrorize a young woman until a giant meteor lands in a car next to them. The woman escapes, the thugs look in the car to see what it is. A strange creature attacks the ringleader of the gang, but he fights him off. The creature scampers into an abandoned shed nearby. They follow it there and kill him, hauling it out of the shed like it's some trophy. They take it back home to their housing project where they show it off to neighbors. Meanwhile, the woman provides description of her attackers to police. The police show up at the project to make arrests. The woman in a nearby van identifies her attackers. Right after the police lock them up in the same van, more creatures attack the police, trapping both the mugging victim and the perps in the same van and the rest of the movie becomes a fight for survival.
"Attack the Block" pays homages to movies like "Assault on Precinct 13", "Die Hard" and "Tremors". The movie is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on July 29, probably in New York, Los Angeles and a few selected cities.
Update: In addition to New York and Los Angeles, "Attack the Block" will also open in Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto.
