Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
HRMMMMMMMMM.... I've seen a few good ones recently:
True Grit- I found myself turned on by the 14 year old girl at the beginningI think its because of her masculine attitude I liked that LMFAO! It's a good movie with a LOVELY soundtrack.
Christopher and His Kind- If you u think the current Dr. WHO, Matt Smith, is hot then that's plenty the reason to watch this flick! Its based on the writer Christopher Isherwood.
The Philadelphia Story- One of my all time favorite movies! KATHERINE HEPBURNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! If you haven't seen it then I feel sorry for you!

I still prefer the original "TRUE GRIT" with John Wayne and Kathrine Hepburn. Two actors that can not be replaced.
I loved The Philadelphia Story. Hepburn was one of the most realistic actresses of all time. And such a beautiful woman inside and out.

Oooops. You are right. My bad. I was thinking of the film "Rooster Cogburn" which I saw recently with Wayne and Hepburn. Wonderful movie too.
The original TRUE GRIT partnered John Wayne with Kim Darby. Another sweetheart of the old movie days. This is still the better version of this movie.

Tough call. A lot depends on whether you prefer John Wayne or Jeff Bridges in the role. I favour Jeff. And last year's version was closer to the book, which I read and enjoyed immensely, and had a lot more "grit" (sorry!) and darkness.
And the lass who played Mattie was just wonderful too.

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
Jeff Bridges is a great actor, and he was good in True Grit. I am just one of those who thinks remakes should be outlawed. You want to compare it to the original, and the remake is rarely ever as good as the original. I am a John Wayne fan to the end. Wayne was a unique actor that many have tried to copy, but failed horribly. There are some actors that should never be replaced in remakes. Wayne is one of them.
But that is just my opinion and I could be wrong. (even though I'm not).

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
I know both movies and I've read the book. The Coen brothers' film wasn't a remake, it was a faithful interpretation of the original novel.
Now, as for their "reinterpretation" of the Ealing classic, The Ladykillers, that was undiluted shite from start to finish, a travesty.

Re: What is The Last Movie You Watched?
I've always hated Kim Darby...so I would probably prefer the new one ...though I have yet to see it.
I wanted the little demons to kill her immediately in "Don't be Afraid of the Dark".
