Usama bin Laden is dead

It is strange this thread has taken on a different tone. From Osama to Politics to Race to future predictions.

Personally, I feel some redemption over his death. Having deployed 4 times (twice to Iraq) it is as if all that hard work is now justified. Actually, I had given up hope he would ever be caught/found. However, I just continued to do my duty because that is what soldiers do.

I am not sure what will become of this. Do I feel safer? I never felt unsafe anyway.

As for politics, my boss is the Commander and Chief, whoever that may be, and my job is to carry out his orders. I have no political leanings, just that the guy in charge do a good job. And I am happy Bin Laden is dead.

Obama will get the credit for this operation for sure, and so he should. He is the one who authorized the operation.

On a humorous note, I too cannot believe that I found out about Bin Laden's death on Hung Angles. To me that is kind of crazy.

Yep - no one can criticise the bravry of the Americans, brits and others on duty in Afghanistan etc. Leave the politics aside. You guys are worth saluting. A guy I know was just in Helmand and his unit was hit by an IED. One guy - an Afghan commando - lost both his legs.

He was buried in the sea to not desecrate his body/religion and so they wouldn't build a shrine to evoke sympathizing movements.

They have his DNA test - The wife identified him

People want to see the footage and his body - due to being obsessed with death.

It will give them entertainment mostly.

I quote everytime he gets shot people will play it over and over saying "Bam he got shot."
