I do have sypmathy for them being held up at gun point and robbed but it certainly IS begging to come and ask strangers for money. Asking for money you havent earned is begging and scrounging and nothing more, like i said in that post this is the kind of thing you ask friends and family for not people you've never met. There are people who actually need help far more desperatley than these 3 do. Being short on the rent is an EVERYDAY thing. someone else pointed out that this is almost certainly not their last $500 and even if they really couldnt pay the rent i'm sure their landlord would be understanding given the circumstannces. and lastly tsdvd man made a very good point; why are they scrounging off men who they hold in contempt?

If you've ever owned a dog, you know what begging is. Scrounging is foraging for leftovers. Neither one applies here. This was ONE post... in ONE thread (at least until Eva posted as well). Is the Red Cross 'begging' when they ask for donations? By your definition, pretty much EVERYONE in the world is a beggar, including, I would suspect, yourself. At some point or another, unless you are completely off the grid, you have probably applied for credit (i.e. - asked for money you didn't have / earn) or had a loan. If not, kudos to you.

Nor do your other points apply. It is incongruent to say that because 'There are people who actually need help far more desperatley than these 3 do' that this is an invalid request. In fact, I would say that is a total cop-out to clear the conscience.

WOW. Scrounging has more than one defintion one of which is 'to borrow with no intention of paying back'. They ARE begging and yes the red cross begs too but i'm happy to give them money because its a good cause. and my point about there being many more deserving people was not a request it was a statement and a true one at that. If i am going to donate money to strangers then its going to be to starving africans on less than a dollar a day rather than 3 well remunerated people in the world's richest country.

Again, a predictable question.

The answer is simple. Because I keep hoping you have the intellectual capacity to put forth a non-ridiculous response. So far, in my dealings with you... hasn't happened. I keep hearing about this witty, amazing, thoughtful, intellectual Bella... maybe there is another.

The Red Cross question wasn't posed or implied in the context of applying to Jamie. It was an actual legal thing that legally is called a 'question'...legally.

As in, the the other person stated, "...Asking for money you haven't earned is begging and scrounging and nothing more..." The Red Cross is probably the largest and most easily recognized charity in the world, which is why it immediately came to mind when I was thinking of a charity who asks for money they haven't earned. It was a question to the poster, 'Winston93' and not used in any way to support an argument that Jamie is or equal to the Red Cross.
