As a complete side note, I just wonder who was raising Treyvon that allowed him to have gold teeth and tattoos age 17. It sounds like his parents couldn't or wouldn't control him. Chances are if he looked like a gangbanger he acted like a gangbanger (I think the twitter account demonstates this as well). I'm not saying dress the boy like Urkel, (and granted I'm not very ghetto) but WTF is the logic in allowing gold teeth and tattoos. That is an indication to me that the kid is not being raised appropriately. I can just imagine what would have happened to me if I showed up at age 17 at home with tattoos (let alone gold in my grill).

Do you honestly think if a Black self-appointed neighborhood watch captain claimed he saw a 'suspicious' looking White teen in a hoodie talking on the phone with his GF carrying Skittles and a can of Ice Tea, got into an altercation and shot that White unarmed kid through the heart, do you really believe that Black murderer would be able to credibly claim 'self defense' and not be arrested??

This is where my outrage comes from, the consistent double standard and the reason why I personally try to keep the temperature turned down on any possible confrontation with a stranger.

I'm 50/50 Zimmerman is convicted of anything or has to serve significant jail time, but this paper thin defense of hiding behind the SYG law is IMO just another example of veiled racism that is all too easy to see.

When Zimmerman is arrested, people will quit bitching.
But for that punk to be free for over 40 days because he claims a kid that he was following threatened HIS life is bullshit.

I know White people get hassled for looking a certain way or wearing the 'wrong' clothes. But the difference is IMO that when you're Black, you will catch grief from authorities just for NOT being White.

Respectfully suggest you look up the actual definition of assault because you have it 100% incorrect.

This whole debate (meaning the greater debate, not just this board) is so horribly jaded from how it's been reported. Hell, just look at the title of this thread! It's almost impossible for form an unbiased opinion - one because the media loads so much bias on every word for good ratings and two because so few *actual* facts are available.

Remember there are always 3 sides to every story his, hers (or his #2 in this case) and the truth. That doesn't even necessarily mean either person is lying - but how each person sees an event will vary. Especially something like this where adrenaline is flowing and everyone's excited, scared, and outside their element.

The major issue, is that one side of this story will never be told. Zimmerman pursued someone who was unarmed and he had a gun. The unarmed person comes up dead. Let for a minute think about the scenario that Zimmerman was a trained policeman. In such a case, he would have been put on adminstrative leave until the matter was investigated. But now, some new Florida law, changes concepts of the defintion of self defense, which has been around for centuries, even before there was a United States.

And by the way, if you say that Hippifried, is "100 percent wrong", I think you owe an explanation how this is so. We all come from different legal jurisdictions. However, according to media reports, Martin's girlfriend, who was on the phone with reported that he was very concerned, (maybe scared might be a better word.) His friend was reported as advising him to run. So this is evidence that he felt a threat. I know that this is not legal evidence. There any many questions and possibilties. I say that a debating public wants/needs answers. This includes your definitions, mr legal scholar.
