16-18, first job was a cook at a Sonic Drive-In. It paid for my first car and a little left over for gas money. I think with the current economic mess teenagers are really missing out when they don't have after school jobs. While my first job was not the most prestigious in the world, it taught me to show up to work on time, and taught me a lot about positive customer service. I work in the field of healthcare now and it often shocks me how bad customers (patients) are treated (because it is a little too much trouble to go the extra mile for some lazy healthcare workers).

Man I totally agree with this. Kids have everything handed to them these days. It's ridiculous. It doesn't matter what the job is - suck it up and do something! Tough tithes. I went to school with kids that had everything handed to them. I have slaved away in kitchens of restaurants since I was 12 years old - my first job was for $6.50 an hour and I worked from 6pm until 4 am washing dishes and making dessert NIGHTLY so that I could put food on the table and send money to my deadbeat parents in Russia.
