And an arresting performance by Mark Knopfler of one of my favourites from his Dire Straits days.

His first vid was pretty sweet, but this one's just amazing.:S
David Bowie and Tin Machine. Underrated era. This track rocks and rocks.
I discovered yesterday that the reason David Bowie quit making records and doing concerts was that, in 2003 he had a massive heat attack and sodecided to curtail all of that. Now lives quietly with his wife Imam and little daughter. Has a book coming out later this year though.
Tin Machine - Heaven's In Here - YouTube
Baby I dream between the blade and the tongue
Of the rose on your cheek the wounded and dumb
We stumble and fall we stumble and fall
Skin on skin but there's heaven in
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in her
Among the twilight and star
Like a rocket to mars
Heaven in here
The first and the last are telling it all
Telling you loud but selling it small
I'm taking a swing at this shadow of mine
Crucifix hangs an' my heart's in my mouth
But it's here
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in her
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to mars
Heaven's in here
Feeling it wanting
mm mm m
Heaven in
Heaven lies between your marbled thighs
The rustle of your falling gown
We stumble and fall like tragedy falls
We stumble and twirl there's heaven in here
We stumble and fall uncertain we fall
There's flesh on flesh but there's heaven in
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Heaven's in here
Among the twilight and stars
Like a rocket to mars
Heaven's in here
You'll dance to my tongue
We'll dance on the sun
We're the twilight and stars
And there's heaven in here

Thank you.
And just for you. A better anthem than O Canada, for my money.
What a voice! I've sung this song too and it's a moving experience as well as an honour to do so.

Ha! You want Canadian anthem then here's Stompin' Tom!
Stompin Tom Connors: The Hockey Song - YouTube
He is about as Canadian as Canadian could be.......until me and the other immigrants flooded Canada starting in the 80s! But Stompin' Tom is still the most Canadian musician we got in my opinion..............
He (Stompin' Tom) isn't my taste, but I thought it was worth sharing another wonderful Canadian songwriter - Bruce Cockburn. The lyrics on this are something else.

This is one of my favourite songs.......plays in my head whenever I get pissed off! Cockburn is a great songwriter. Stompin Tom grows on a person.....couldn't get into his music when I first heard it but the honesty is infectious. You might like this guy:

I love Ron Sexsmith - see him live whenever he comes to the UK. Another terrific songwriter. And we both play the same model Taylor!

Daniel Lanois is a great talent - wonderful producer too.
Robbie Robertson of The Band is my songwriting hero - fantastic ability to bring history alive in song. This song for me is his finest moment, the sad story of the French Canadians displaced and expelled by the British at the end of the Seven Years War. And, of course, Robbie hails from Toronto.
Two lines in the last verse tear me up every time:
"Set my compass north, I got winter in my blood"

Last piece of "Canadiana" for tonight lol.
Kate and Anna McGarrigle. This song has an almost religious sensibility to it, and I find it incredibly moving, especially those fragile harmonies. We'll miss you, Kate.
