You're right Schimmel.

Yes Thailand is really awesome. It was one of the most international cities in the world due to the in-sourcing of manufacturing and the tourism industry.

You can find all kinds of people here but mostly there are plenty of fun-loving and debaucherous brits! The ones I've known best are always up for having a few pints and having a chit chat.

LOS = land of smiles = The Kindom of Thailand

"Land of smiles" is an old slogan of the TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) used to attract more farang tourists ($$$$).

Try googling it. There is lots of discussion on the internets on whether or not Thailand truly is a "land of smiles".

Amen. I have two Brits in particular who I'm still "email-buddies" with who made my first trip well worth it thanks to their openness and willingness to pass on crucial inside info. Walk past the shady folk and find yourself a Brit!!
