Why is it so difficult to meet a tranny who isnt an escort or a corner girl....no offense to those out there i got nothing against you..people got to make money some how, but seriously though i have been for a whil looking just to have a relationship with a ts that doesnt escort or work the corner every night... Now it might been different else where but here in Houston it seems so dificult... I have met a few ts women at some bars around town, but nothing ever happened cause they always wanted to go back to my place so they could get paid and move on to the next customer, or just wanted to go to the alley way and do it and get paid..... it really sucks... anyways just wanted to know whats up with that, and if I am just the unlucky guy that hasnt met the ts women that isnt an escort..... let me know.....

It costs a LOT of money to get all of the work, hormones, and procedures and still live a life with nice clothes and all the nice things that a girl has. Most girls DO work in the sex industry and that's the truth, from the most attractive to the homeliest of the TS girls. I met my boyfriend escorting, he was a client, the chemistry was wild and I was lonely in a hotel on tour. We had talked for a long time online and became good friends... When we met, I told him to stay the night, no charge, because I liked him. Now we are in deep love and he has pretty much agreed to take care of me so that was that.
I still take bookings of a grand or more though ;-)
My boyfriend met me, out of chance... He never had been with an escort, but he saw me on shemaleyum.com and said he just had to have me some way and some how. He was determined.
It would be a rare find for you to find one of us who is NOT in the sex industry. But I know there are some. If you look very hard it *might* be possible... Try finding a girl you like and making a date with her as a companion, there could be chemistry ;-)

wankers44: Gianna explained everything well. But you also need to consider that transexual women arent as plentiful in supply than genetic women therefore its harder to meet non working ts'es but theyre there out somewhere. You just need to look harder than when youre looking for a GG. ;)
If only you live in the NYC area..right around Queens youll see alot of them non working trannies who works as nurses by day. But then again, if you got high expectations..i.e. gotta be ultra femme, passable with nice hips ass and huge breast then Id say lower it and be realistic about it..otherwise youll only be frustrated with your search. And goodluck

by taking care of you, im assuming he's helping you financially. if so, im just curious to know what he thinks about you still seeing clients. has it really caused a problem in your relationship?

There are 1000's of non-sex worker transgenders out there, 1000's - but you are looking in the wrong places.
It's unlikely you'll find them on sites like this or even outpersonals or adultfriendfinder. Try personals sites that aren't "sex" orientated like friendfinder.com, yahoo personals, match.com, asianfriendfinder.com etc - look for more community based groups on AOL or such.
I disagree with any statement saying that most TS's work in the sex industry as my extensive experience just shows it's not correct.
You need to try a bit harder, have a bit more patience and not jump in with sex questions - and you'll find them.

i never said i was looking on personal ads, or sex sites, i am meeting these girls at clubs, and bars around houston, but they always seem to be escorts, they always want to have a conversation then when i ask for their number to call them sometime there always like let go back to your place and have some fun, and it always ends with a conversation about money, i never bring that up or anything, they are the ones who tell me that they want to go back to my place for some money... all i am saying is why cant i find a girl that is just a ts trying to live a normal life, work a normal job and want a normal boyfriend, not a client, not a fix for the night just a normal relationship..... I am confused i guess thats all... But I never mentioned anything about sex sites, and sex....Please dont put words in my mouth...

I agree with seanchai. Estimates range widely on the number of TS in the US, as there is very little in the way of quantifiable, verifiable data to support conclusions, but most estimates I've seen range in the 1:5000 - 1:3000 percentile (or approximately 60,000 - 100,000 TS). Even if the percentage is significantly lower--say 1:10,000--that's still 30,000 individuals. Most of them do not work as escorts or in the sex industry, although I suspect that the percentage of beautiful tgirls who escort is significantly higher since the market would be more lucrative and therefore more desirable for them.

There are plenty of non pro girls out there, but looking in tranny clubs(where most of the girls are working) isnt gonna get you what you seek.If you want an apple dont go looking up an orange tree.
Most(not all) of the non pros arent your top shelf lookers.I mean lets face it,if a girl who looks like a goddess can go work in an office and make 8.00 an hour,or can see clients for 30 minutes and make a few hundred, its easy to see the why she would opt for the latter. Lets also remember that even though gender discrimination is illegal,it still happens all the friggin time.A very close friend of mine,a non pro, sweet as can be was recently forced to quit her office job as she was leaving for lunch and would return to find offensive and threatening notes on her desk re: her gender.
Another girl I know was an employeee of Thai airways here in Bangkok for 3 years, before her "secret" came out.Her boss told her to work and dress as a boy or she would be fired.she is now a bar girl/escort/model

I was lucky enough to have had one of the most intensely wonderful relationships with a tgirl I met when I was working in a hospital. She was a medical student! A doctor. And I blew it with her, but that's a different story.
I know another who is a research scientist at Harvard. And she's way the hell out of the league of anyone on this board, physically and intellectually.
They are everywhere, in every facet of society.

again.. as a NORMAL ts in houston i wouldnt be caught dead in the 2 ts bars here ... 1. b/c its well known they are for working girls and 2. b/c the one time i did go i was immediately threatened w/ bodily harm by 3 girls who were jealous of my looks and assumed i was there to "steal" clients... so just b/c u say you dont go to sex sites doesnt mean youre not going to sex bars... say what you want to seanchi but i live here and i know the only clubs ts's here go to are hooker bars ... and the guy was telling you were to look and where NOT to look he didnt say you WERE looking at sex sites he was just telling you NOT to... you say youre looking for a "normal" girl... then go to normal bars and normal sites and normal places... normal girls like me.. dont go to hooker bars

whether she would work for $8 an hour at an office job or make more being escort its obvious to see what she would pick... thats not about the money its about the indiviual girls morals and nothing else... i would kill for an $8 an job but i cant find one b/c like you said gender discrimination is prevalent ive been looking for a job for almost a year and a half i have a notepad w/ 167 marks in it that stand for interviews i went on and nothing happened.... 167 and not even 1 job... obviously they like my application ... i was dropped my school today they claim attendance but i think it was more to do w/ me being ts... so its easy to see why girls turn to escort/ adult modeling ...its just not how i want to go... hopefully 168 will be my lucky number

Jen, good luck with number 168. I can believe the discrimination, it happens, but that a girl as bright and articulate as you (not to mention beautiful) can't find a decent job sucks. I'm sure something will open up for you, and I respect you for sticking with it.

thnx... i live in the wealthiest part of houston so lots n lots of stuck up snooty ppl working the malls and other businesses so they think b/c they work in saks that they can treat ppl like they shop there and that if they hire me to work there it will "disgust" the rich ppl that shop there or w/e its stupid and closed minded but not much else i can do at this point but keep trying -j

Discrimination does exist out there, and sometimes it does happen to you. When it does, it hurts like a b*itch. But I think TS's are too quick to blame everything on their T-ness. I've known some girls that were either flakey, bad attitude, uneducated or stuck up and when they had trouble finding a "straight" job, they always blamed it on discrimination.
I live & work in the straight world and the only secrets to getting a job is to be professional, be on time, know what you are doing, dress appropriately, be polite, and try to be the best at what you do.
Good luck and don't give up.

First to guy asking question:
This is a strange one. I think the guy has a point. To find a pretty TS who is not an escort or sex worker of some sort is very hard. The guys question is a fair one... Look at Megabody... really nice guy looking for a relationship for years after he lost his girlfriend. It took him years to find one. It is more of a needle in the haystack. As Megabody how he met his girls. If not on an adult site, where should he look? I mean these seem like the best place to meet a mainstream girl with just a few other places to go. Well if he wants to find a girl for a normal relationship, he can attend local transgendered support groups. I don't think you'll be too thrilled with the overall calliber of girl you find there, but I guarantee there will be some single girls. It will also show some dedication that you actually want to understand what they are going through. I would say that the girls in this type of scenario will be > 95% bottoms. You may just find a single girl and as long as you don't bust out your shemale porn on the first few dates you'll be OK.
Next to Jen:
Jen - I like you, but I guess I kind of question the comment about your school dropping you because your T. Obviousy you did have some kind of attendance issue right? Did they just do this with no warning and one day tell you, sorry we are kicking you out of school for bad attendance thanks, goodbye? Why would you miss so much school? There are people who can go years without missing a day of work but to get fired or kicked out of school for attendance it generally has to be pretty excessive. Also I am sure that it is documented in the schools requirements or by-laws. They just can't make up rules as they go. If I were in a situation where I knew my school was kicking me out for one more day, I would go in with the plague if I needed to in order to prevent getting kicked out.
The school thing is is a really big deal because success in life, outside of the sex industry, almost no matter what job you get, is linked to directly to education especially with little experience. If I were you, I would put my pride asside and beg them to let me back in or if they really can't stand on the attendance thing, then perhaps a lawyer is an option.
Right now you are a high school graduate with apparently not that much experience looking for a job that pays a bit above minimum wage. I agree that 168 interviews is excessive.... That screams some form of discrimination or terrible interview skills (probably the former). Just the same, mix up your interview thing a little. Try new ideas. A perfect idea is, as a mainstream TS, try going to one of the TS support groups in your area. I am sure there is one that meets monthly. Make connections with people and ask them how they found jobs or if they have any ideas for you. The TS family is a small tight nit group. It is every bit as tight nit as the TS sex worker family. The women are typically more matronly, but as long as you don't come accross as better than them, they will be nice.
I still think you should goto normal college as the professional business world finds diversity a necessary evil. Just keep in mind that if you get past the interviews unclocked, social security will clock you to your employer when your employer submits your information. It will come up as a gender mismatch and their HR department will be notified. It is very hard to successfully integrate as a pre-op TS in stealth because of this fact.
Finally Jen - I admire your tennacity and strength in not turning to the dark side. I did find it interesting that you were threatened by TS girls going to the hooker bar there. I've gone to TS bars in LA and SF by myself and have never been threatened once or had issues with any of the girls. I'm not telling you to hang out there, but when a girl gets threatened it is generally because the girls think she has an attitude of some sort. Try smiling at the girls or talking to them... or talking to them about things all TS seem to love like surgery or hair/makeup.

Why don't you try your occupational luck up north like New York or Boston?
Cost of living is higher, but you also get paid alot more. $8 in TX is like $15+ up north.
The support system among the girls in Boston is extremely strong. There was an awful event about ten years ago when a girl named Chanelle Pickett was murdered by some closet case douchebag.
As a result of that horrible event the trans community here has become a pretty powerful force. It was the people in Boston who put the T in LGBT. They are everywhere.
There is of course Jacques Cabaret. And during the summer we have Cape Cod and Provincetown just down the road.

I would have to, to some degree, take offense at the implied importance of higher education that was presented in this post.
I was kicked out of high school. . .twice, and while I was still accepted into a very good college, chose not to attend. School means nothing!
On the other hand, the chair I'm currently sitting in is held together by gaff tape and zip ties, I work at a rundown nightclub, I can't seem to win an animation contest waged against retards, and I'm kinda drunk right now.
Eh. . .Yah. . .go to school.
At least you might be able to afford a decent chair someday. Although, honestly, the zip ties and gaff zap are working pretty good, for now.
I'm still well stocked with whiskey, but things could fly apart any minute.

Excellent suggestions, Vicky. And I agree with BSMike re: the GLBT support in Boston. Christine Jorgensen may have been banned in Boston in 1956, but today there's the Offensive Theatre (one of the finest GLBT theatre companies in the world) who just ran Christine Jorgensen Reveals, including a dialogue after the performance led by two tg women and the actor who portrayed Jorgensen. Other examples abound. Yes, the cost of living sucks: in some ways Boston actually exceeds NYC in cost of living, but the payscale in the northeast makes up for it.
