View Full Version : Time to talk shit! SuperBowl predictions?
its too early to be picking...if tom brady gets hurt next game they prob win like 8 games....
Pats. they're loaded for bear. But in the end the superbowl will probably come down to a kick or a turnover. But I still say the Pats. Hollywood's agrument goes the same for Peyton or Thomlison. Say all three go down. who would you pick.

I'm going with the Chargers this year. I know they're currently 1-1 but that doesn't mean anything yet.
you can't predict based on injuries. If Peyton or LT goes down it's the same story. What are the rosters. who is the strongest. Key player goes down. The game changes. Predicting the winner on Super Bowl Sunday is like, saying "I'll bet I get hard after taking Viagra."
I say now!!!!! PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look out, you can thank Mangini. He's awakened a team loaded with talent.
We thought San Diego was one of our two fearsome teams. Us in Boston, know well enough...shit happens. But it won't stop us from making predictions.

I'm a patriots hater. Damn tuck rule, damn cheating coach, damn refs giving them all the breaks. Bring back the old Stever Grogan pats. That's the team I know.
They're good, but I'm still heated over that Raiders playoff game. Refs ruined the Raiders...
Raiders? Get your owner to buy some talent. He's lost his fastball. He use to be good.

I retract my prediction for the Chargers to win the big game. They're good but definitely not as good as last year. I can't understand why they got rid of head coach Marty Schottenhiemer for Norv Turner. A coach that can get his team to 14-2 should not be fired.
I'm liking the way the Steelers are playing so far. Making a Super Bowl prediction this early in the season is pretty pointless though.

Marty was a consistent choker in the playoffs. Always managed to blow it somehow. I don't agree with the hiring of Norv Turner, he's a better coordinater in my opinion, but whatever. They just aren't looking that good, but they have played 3 tough games in a row, so it's not too surpising to me.
The pats look good, but I hate them just about as much as I hate the cowboys, who also look good. That would have to be my superbowl prediciton as of now...

I pick the Patriots. They have some pretty good depth to their team this year and barring any injuries to the most key players, they're going all the way again this year. Count em! 4 Championships!!!
Yes i know that their are allot of irrational Patriots haters out there. But instead of making false allegations about how they cheat, talk some shit and tell me which team YOU THINK is gonna win this year and why. :o

i don't believe san diego bills or jets will be sniffing the playoffs so i will at least wait till week 8 or so..
Pat's 38 Cowboy's 14. Has anyone one seen the Pats play this year? They are fucking frightening! Brady has more weapons than Paddy has pigs.
Cheating? Mangini is a whinning cunt who the rest of the league wished would go away! Taking pics of a bunch of fat fuck coaches bouncing up and down for a future game? It will probably never be used. Will have to go back to stenographer's with good observational skills. Jesus, we were using high tech to "steal signals"! Who hasn't stolen signals. We only did it against the Jet's cause we knew their personnel could never handle changing signals 7 0r 8 games down the road.

I'm a Steeler fan, but, although they look good so far, I think they are a few players away.
I'm also I huge Patriot hater for so many VALID reasons, but I can't deny they made some moves that make them the odds-on favorite.
Dallas looks impressive.
I think this year is up for grabs and I'm not willing to make a prediction yet
EXCEPT that New England's season will end in some big scandal or catastrophic incident worthy of the contract they made with the devil years ago to make them a winner.
Who wants to play the Pats? Come on step right up. Yeah that's right the cowboy's are nothing. They're coming up soon in the regular season. Green Bay looks tougher.
Love Romeo Crennell! A true master of defense. But he's never had to defend against nothing like the Pat's multi faceted Death Star. I don't even think Bill Belicheck could defend against the offense he's created.
Bill's focusing on the Browns. The fans are salivating for the Cowboy's and the Colts. That's why Bill is coach and we are fans. ....Alice, get me a beer and the remote!
8) I hope all you haters enjoyed that game against the Browns. What's gonna stop this team?
Bring on the Cowboys!
Cowboy's will be at a disavantage, they're playing Monday nite. One less day to prepare.
Luckily, the Pat's considered their performance against the Browns, sub par. Too many three and outs and penalties for facemasks and such.
Prediction, Pat's 37 Cowboys 10 next week.

Are the packers playing the cowboys this season. That will answer the question.
I hate next week's opponent for the Pats - Miami. Winless teams are dangerous. You let your guard down. I bet the game is closer than the Dallas game with the Pats behind at the half. But then they come back and win. Belicheck then has something to harp on for the second half of the season.

Winless teams have nothing to lose and they are always looking to upset the best teams. That being said, i think the Pats are too good to lose to them even if they don't give a 100%. So how close of a game are you predicting? Personally i think it's going to be another blowout for the Pats.
38-10 for the Patriots.
Me too, I was trying to be humble. Pat's 38-7. I got the spread on the Cowboys but not the score.

Chill, M77, not all of us can be on here just as you're gettin' jiggy. I happen to agree that the Pats have a pretty solid track on another Lombardi Trophy. Never count my boys out. Look what they did in '04 & '05, 15-1 then 6th seed to Super Bowl victory. Best D in the league and if they get on a tear look out. Pats and Colts are good but not unstoppable.
PghTGrlLvr
11-06-2007, 10:48 PM
Hate to burst your bubble 77 but did you watch MNF last night? Granted it was the Ravens and their gettin' a little long in the tooth but almost always a tough game. If the Steelers get Willie his yards and Ben keeps shakin' off D's and wingin' the ball with precision I'm tellin' ya look out.
Our D can stop anybody (yeah yeah except the Cards & Broncs). 16 Steelers personnel on Cards staff this year including O Coordinator and OLine coach. Broncos.....just a bad game plan from the get go. We shoulda ran the ball down their throats.
Just remember what they did to Manning on their way to the SB. He had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Brady can get rid of the ball quick but he's not mobile enough if we blitz all day, and our DB's can cover Moss I believe. Ike especially is coming into his own.
PghTGrlLvr
Blitz, cover Moss. But if your doubling Moss and blitzing, who's covering Whelker, Stallworth, Gaffney, Watson and Vrabel sometimes for that matter. Or...Kevin Faulk. Or Kyle Brady.
Today, thanks to Don Shula and his comments, the Team as been reinvigorated. And don't underestimate the Pat's defense. The Steelers are a good team better than the NFC teams in a super bowl. But they don't have the weapons of the Pats. Unless Brady goes down between now and then, you don't have a chance.
PghTGrlLvr

Ok 77 We'll tackle you first,
Strong looking defense against weak teams.....hmmm, The Jets, what a powerhouse.....and the Dolphins, what a joke (sad to see Porter playing there but at least he's makin' good money). NE has also played the Bengals, Browns, and Bills as we have all wins.
The only team you guys have played is Indy and they ain't got OUR D!! :) No, you can't count Dallas, their in the NFC (non football conference) those teams don't even count.
As for esed,
Who said anything about double teaming Moss? And LeBeau's blitzing schemes are the best in the league. Who do you think invented the zone blitz that every team now tries to emulate?? Sorry guys, Belechick ain't no genius, but Dick is the professor of defense.
Remember, Belechick used to coach Cleveland and we kicked their but then. Oh yeah, and who was it that took away NE's undefeated season 3 yrs ago after we took Philly the week before?
Quit believin' everything you hear on TV. The Sports Media isn't really that bright. They just hawk ratings boys.
Later.

esed,
As far as Shula's comments reinvigerating the Pats, they don't need it. They're already playin' with a chip on their shoulder. Only problem is, anger can sometimes get in the way. Did you see Brady jawing at the Colts OLine after taking the knee, somebody's gonna whack that boy and his attitude. As for Vrabel, he used to be a Steeler. He was always good, probably the best NE has next to "The Golden Boy".
Trust me, Brady is without a doubt the best QB in the league right now. He doesn't choke under pressure as quickly as Manning, but he does get rattled when you knock him on his ass a few times. Ben just escapes. Last year was the abborishsion (sp) for Ben, now he's back to his true form. Not saying they WILL beat NE next month but don't ever doubt that they CAN. Any given Sunday as the saying goes.
Sure wish it was 1:00 at Heinz Field though.

The Cowboys!! Gimme a break. I told you, the Cowboys are in the NFC. No NFC team is going to win the SB in this decade. The only thing Boomer Esiason was doing when he named the Colts/Pats game SB 41 1/2 was hoping that 2 AFC teams could play in the SB.
Also.....go ahead, keep dismissing the Steelers. I can guarantee you Belechick and Brady aren't. That's what fans do, not professionals who play the sport.
PghTGrlLvr
11-07-2007, 06:18 PM
And yeah 77, you guys have a good chance of going undefeated in the regular season. I seriously doubt it will happen, it rarely does. Hence the Dolphins record still stands some 35 yrs. later. There's 7 games left in the season and even without injuries, somebody can have a really good day and punch the Pats in the mouth. Could be the lowly Jets or the Dolphins. I've been watching the pro football since before the merger and alot of strange shit happens.
Team spirit is one thing but reality usually come a knockin' sooner or later.

PghTGrlLvr,
I must admit you are the best of the rest that we have to face. I've been following the Steelers since the start of the season. And I've been apprenhensive about our meeting. Second to only the colts. If one team has the stars aligned to beat us, it is the Giants. They'll be desparate, and we'll be sitting pretty and maybe resting players.
The Dolphins, were a wild card, out of the blue upset but Shula killed that threat.
The Steelers? No, we'll still be pumped and roll over you like a hot car. Good defense, but not that good.
PghTGrlLvr
11-12-2007, 04:45 PM
Well guys,
After we kicked the shit out of the Ravens (and the great Ray Lewis) on MNF, we next come back in the 2nd half and beat Cleveland (who are starting to put together a decent offense). Look out boys, we're coming to your town to play some smash mouth football soon!! :)
Here's a nice little quote from one of our DE's.
"All I ever hear is about [Tom] Brady and Peyton [Manning], but this guy we have here is very special," defensive end Brett Keisel said. "He makes plays those guys don't make and that's what makes him so special. He can get out of the pocket, he can create, he's a beast and we're glad he wears black and gold."
Don't ever count out the black & gold. Yesterday, Boomer Esiason who [u]HATES The Steelers said he thinks they are better and a more complete team than Indy. Should be interesting down the stretch and into the playoffs. Hopefully everybody on both NE & Pgh stays healthy (better judge of performance) although the Steelers probably have better depth at position than any team in the NFL.
Later.......

Amen to that Oli. Special teams has been a sore spot for the Steelers since before Bobby April was STs coach. O-Line is also suspect, Ben keeps sayin' what a good job they're doin' protecting him after each game. I laughed when I heard it yesterday, I don't know how he keeps from rolling his eyes or laughing.
PghTGrlLvr
11-14-2007, 05:08 PM
77,
As I said...who have they played besides Indy? Dallas undefeated...so what! The NFC is a JOKE!! I mean, I like the Packers...but come on, NFC (non football conference).
And yeah, as I said before, we never should have lost to the Cards or the Broncs. Any given Sunday, this is what Pats fans and the media don't seem to understand. The Cards have 16 Steelers personel on their staff and team Wiz was our O Coordinator and Grimm our O Line coach. They sort of have our offensive playbook. The Broncs was just a bad game plan from the start (I said we should have run, and run, and run). As Coach Tomlin says, we don't make excuses, what we put on tape we stand by and we continue to seek perfection.
And you don't KNOW the Pats would have beaten them by at least 21 pts. (you ASSUME they would have). Also...I didn't say the Steelers have played anybody. That's what Pats fans and the media keep leaving out. The Pats hadn't played anybody either until Indy. If you recall, they were down to Dallas. They just stuck around longer and stayed in the game. Congrats, that is what good teams do. That what The Steelers do and always have. They've always been a second half team, clear back to the '70s.
Dec 9th should be a good game, by 2 of the best in the league. The Steelers usually don't play well at NE, the fog game with Mike Tomczak at QB was a disaster. Hopefully it will be a knock down drag out game, you're best hope at going undefeated is by beating the Steelers. If our Defense puts Brady on his ass a few times early he'll get rattled and start coughing it up. I've seen it before. The Pats (MIGHT) be a"better" team...their not a "MUCH BETTER" team. Sorry to burst that bubble again. Earth to M77, come in 77..........................

Oh yeah I forgot to add.... Jets, SD, Buf, Cin, Clev, Dal, Mia, Wash, & Ind..... what a killer schedule so far. Besides Indy, I don't see anything. And Indy didn't look like much of a powerhouse the past 2 wks. Totally over-rated because of "THE GREATEST QB ON THIS PLANET OR ANY OTHER" Peyton Manning, well.....besides maybe Tom Brady this year.

Ok here's the deal, the unbiased real deal. As a league, the NFL sucks. The
Pats are pretty good. The Colts are pretty good but missing too many key people. The Steelers (my team) are good, the 'Boys are good and Green Bay is charmed. The rest of the league SUCKS! Nobody has played a tough schedule, because there aren't enough good teams to go around. The 'Boys lost to the Pats because they made silly mistakes, not because the Pats were better. The Pats were dominated by the Colts, even though Manning had only one wide-out.
You guys needed a little reality check, so I provided these facts for ya.
Carry on.
Steelers, your time will come. The Pat's have you on the schedule. People ask "Who have the Pat's played? Weak teams!" I ask who won't we play that's a strong team? I guess Green Bay.
I don't think the Colts dominated us, or else we wouldn't be in position to win that game in the fourth quarter. The Colts are decimated especially after last week's game. Frenni was a big big loss especially when they play the Pats.
Steelers, let's play! Keep trash talking. It makes us stronger.

Finally an unbiased opinion (even though he admits to being a Pgh fan)with some clear thinking invovled.
Yes 95% of the league absolutely blows! I've said that for the past several weeks. Just looking at games and stats, it is pathetic. I mean look at the Lions. They CRUSH the Broncos and then choke against the Cards.
The only thing I really don't factor in is injuries to the Colts. You must have depth. Period. Unless your starting QB is hurt, it really shouldn't be a decimating factor in a games outcome.
Love The Pack though, Favre is having fun and I'm glad they're playing on Thanksgiving wish they were playing The Cowboys though. (I usually don't watch the games much on Thansgiving) Cowboys and Lions every year forever. Who thought that one up?
Later guys..............HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, thanks for losing to the Jets. Now we have a chance at the number one draft choice next year. We have SF's 1st pick. We gave ours to the Jet's thanks to spygate. Jeez, filming a bunch of fat fucks doing the hoochie coo on the sidelines really turned our team around.

Hey guys,
Took a little break after the Jets game. What a flop by my boys. And yes............................................... ..........the Pats looked good
Hopefully the Steelers just plain overlooked the Jets. That's what Golic even said was his thought, and he's a Browns boy. Don't know, regardless, we have the 'phins on MNF and if they give us a game I'm sure it'll be the O-line and backs not picking up the rush again. I've said before that that has always been the main problem with the Steelers.
Well, that and Lebaeu9sp0 needs to settle Polomalu down and just keep him in coverage. He's out of position most times and gettin' burned.
The Pats looked really good. I'm just not convinced that they'll keep up the anger to go undefeated. Hey, if they stay that focused they have a legit shot, but......................ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.

Was a VERY good game.............besides the outcomeof course LOL.
The Pats were efficient, but not spectacular. But for a couple of mistakes by a rookie QB (two very stupid picks) especially that last one. Can you tell me why with 5 min. left in regulation and at the NE 29 you would not sit on the ball run, run, run and take as much time off the clock as possibly? At the worst they were in field goal range to tie the game. I mean even if you score the TD there's no doubt that Brady is more than capable of driving down the length of the field for a TD. I have said it before, he is the best QB in the league (in a clutch situation you definitely want Brady as your QB). Although in a fist fight I'd take Ben anyday of the week, he's huge and quick, I mean he'd just kick the shit out of Tommy Boy.     Over confidence or stupidity, either one killed the Eagles last night.
Congrats...........Dec 9th should be interesting to say the least!! Oh I forgot, ain't even gonna be a game LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

No doubt. As I keep saying "any given Sunday" or Monday as the case may be. Only thing I don't understand is why you NE fans don't see it being possible against the Pats? :screwy They are good but anything can happen. It almost did against the Eagles. It should have, all Feeley had to do was take care of the last drive properly. All he probably saw was his name in the record books and got stupid and over-confident.

It will take you to the Steelers message board from Fox Sports called "Heinz Field" used to be "The North Side". You can see what Steelers fans from far and wide are saying about my boys. Ain't all pretty I'll tell you that. I like going to other teams boards and seeing what everybody is bustin' on. Cleveland fans like going to Steelers boards and stirring up the pot. Some folks are very knowledgeable, some are just die-hard dipshits.

8) 10-0 This team is just too good.
The Steelers (my team) are good
Good to know that you and PghTGrlLvr are in agreement on this, because misery loves company.
You guys needed a little reality check, so I provided these facts for ya.
Carry on.
The reality checks will be here in December for you two.
Ok, the only way it would be a reality check is if Pittsburgh crushes
u over confident Pats. I'm not a delusional fan, I'm a realistic supporter. When I said Pitt was good I was only trying to prove there are divisions of talent in the league. If I was to give grades, I'd do it like this: Ne and Indy AND Dallas -A. Green Bay-B. Pitt-C. Everyone else is a "D" or "F". I don't think Pitt is as good as some say, even though they easily could be UNDEFEATED. I don't think their defense is as tough as advertised and I get
tired of all the praise heaped on Big Ben. I like him, but as of yet he's done nothing--- he hasn't been asked too!
If 100% healthy Indy is the best team in football,
but they're banged up. The difference between NE and the
other upper escelon teams is execution and discipline. Dallas will
beat themselves, that's their weakness. NE got outplayed by Philly
but numb nuts like to point out "they found a way to win. That's what
good teams do." The fact is Philly found a way to lose. The last interception
was a gift... It had nothing to do with anything the Pats did. It was all about Fealy ( basically a 3rd string an who ate you guys up). They didn't need to be throwing anyway, as already metioned.
Oh yeah, why weren't you guys going for it on fourth down? Kinda curious. Were you not trying to win the game?
Like I said, I'm a realist. I know what we have and I know what you have,
and what you have is a talented team that doesn't beat itself very often, scores alot of points on pansies as if they're trying to convince the BCS they belong in a bowl game, and is coached by an asshole that is going make Boston even more hated nationwide than it is now--- and eventually get one of his players hurt, possibly from a cheap shot.
PghTGrlLvr is right, on any given Sunday. Shit can happen. The conditions that the Steelers played Miami is an example. Brady going down would be another.
Regarding the Philly Pats game, who the fuck called the play on the Asante interception...I don't think Feely did. And the annoucers were saying not to go to the outside, and they did and Sanders killed the last drive.
We've had injuries, Seymour, Sammy Morris, Marhonney, Randell Gay, now Colvin. Even if Brady went down, we are in the playoffs. With the backup QB, we can still win. Improbable but not impossible.
The Philly game was the best thing that could happen. It reinforces all that Belicheck preaches. The stuff Philly did has been corrected. The holes will no longer exist. Back to the blow outs, till something outside of the team's control prevails.

I'm in to sports big time, but I don't know the rules of american football so it's hard for me to enjoy it. Is it as good as you make it out to be? To me it looks like it's too 'stop/start' but I want to get in to it and see if I like it.
Name me the top 3 teams in the league and the teams that are hated the most.
Thanks.

Alright, Night Rider. There you go, throwing a fake grenade in the room and standing outside looking in the window waiting for the bedlam to ensue.
So let's get started! Prior to injuries, it was New England, Indianapolis, and Dallas in that order. Now I'd say New England, Jacksonville, and Dallas in that order.
Most hated team....New England - no one comes close. People tend to hate a team with players with intelligence to match their skill. Indianapolis was a hated team because they also have intelligence, but they've been decimated by injuries. Otherwise, Philidelphia only because they're for Philidelphia. And finally, the New York Jets, nothing against the team but their coach is a whiney cunt.
Admitedly american football doesn't have the continuity of hurling or gaelic football. But there is more of a fast moving chess match feel to the sport, where there is allot of stategy in play.

LOL I'm not trying to cause chaos, I'm genuinly interested in getting into it. You guys seem to be obsessed, so that's what's sparked my interest. Okay ezed, I might go with your top 3 picks...but with some disclaimers.
#1. prior to "injuries"...DOESN'T MATTER. injuries are a part of the game and if your team can't handle their depth chart then tough shit. I'm tired of all the outlets talking about how the Colts have injuries. TOUGH SHIT!! You still have to play the game and your backups better step up.
As for most hated teams...
#1 NE. Not because of some "intellegence" factor. Bellicick is an ASSHOLE!! He was an ASSHOLE when he coached the Browns, he'll be an ASSHOLE till the day he goes away. Other than that, most people respect the Pats players. Tom Brady is without a doubt the best QB in the league.
The Pats have quality players, just a dickhead for a coach.
Indy was not hated because of some "intellegence" factor. They were hated because the sports media wanted to blow Peyton Manning and wanted the rest of us to suck his balls!! And they also keep trying to get us to think that Eli is the second coming. The Mannings have one good QB in the family, Peyton. Archie Manning was a second rate QB that played for the Saints. Eli is a second rate QB that plays for the Giants. I love Peyton's commercials, he's very funny. I just hated the media going on, and on, and on!!!! They do it for Brady but not as much.
The Steelers on the other hand, are one ,if not THE most beloved teams in the country. Their fans are the most loyal not matter what. If you see Pgh on TV, 8 out of 10 people are dressed in Steelers gear no matter the time of year. We ain't right that's for sure. We are WAY to nuts about THE BLACK & GOLD.
As for start and stop, it's all about TV and advertising, American Football used to be alot faster and that was before the passing game was so prevalent.
Anymore ?'s just ask, I'm a plethera of knowledge!!

just some observations: you guys forgot about the tuck rule--- the fact that the Patriots got to the Super Bowl on some ridiculous, obscure rule when the Raiders beat them in everyone's eyes. Then they play in a political Super Bowl that the government turned into a propaganda opportunity, and they (the PATRIOTS) beat a team that could've never beaten in a million tries. These are the reasons people began hating the Pats.
American football does stop and start alot. I believe it's less than 10 mins of actual play in a game. But it's the world's number one team sport bar none---you have so many guys with different responsibilities, but none can succeed without the other---awesome.
Dallas is probably the most glorified team. Because they garnered the moniker "america's team" they are hated by most everyone except their fans. But it's not a "I hope they die and maggots eat their flesh" type of hate like the Pats have garnered. Patriot hate is a fairly new phenomenon... no one hated Steve Grogan and company. Cowboy hate, however is traditional.
I hate the Pats...that said, if there isn't a blizzard or monsoon when they play the Steelers, and Tom Brady doesn't get hurt...they win the Superbowl with a 19-0 record. But I'm hoping for the first ever blizsoon after the truck runs Brady over, then backs over him again just to make sure they did the job!

Just got back in town after a couple of days away so just a quickie for now.
If the Steelers come out flat they'll likely get their asses handed to them, though they usually make great ajustments at 1/2 time. If they come out on fire which I hope, they will ruin the Pats fans whole season. If James Harrison goes on another QB hunt, Brady had better watch out because HE WILL get hurt, which means NE's winning season is over.
What would be ironic is if NE goes undefeated till wk. 14 and the 'Fins go winless and the 14-0's get beat by the 0-14's. NOW THAT WOULD BE FUCKIN' HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More later guys and perhaps a prediction on PGH/NE score.

Cowboys and Steelers! Time to resurrect the old rivalry for real.
I said 27 to 21 because the weather is predicted to be wet and cold. If it was mild and moderate, I'd have to go with M77's spread.
I sit here and enjoy this ride to glory. I have the utmost respect for each and every team (except the cunt lead Jets - see posts elsewhere). Everyone thinks we're assholes, so be it. Come on Steelers, run it up the middle like the Ravens did.
We're waiting for you. You're a good team, but everyone in the country is giving us a reason to beat you're ass and say you were a tough team afterward. Like we always do. Miami beat us...not a chance thanks to Shula and Morris..
The only teams that have a chance to beat us are the Steelers and the Giants (Giants because they will be desparate and we will be ambivilant).
The Steelers have the tools but do they have the brains? We'll see on Sunday.

77,
If the Pats are going to win they'd better score early and often. Ain't no way they're gonna open it up late against the Steelers. You guys (Pats fans) have only seen a VERY small portion of what the Steelers D does, and don't forget, we (Dick Lebeau) INVENTED the zone blitz that every team "tries" to use. Why do you think they called it the Blitzburgh Defense in the '90s? Also, we don't give much ground across the middle, and Moss is gonna be covered tighter than he's been all year (Ike Taylor is coming into his own this year).
Am I saying the Steelers are going to win for sure, no, do I know they CAN win, HELL YEAH. They are just as good as the Pats and just as bad as the Dolphins, so are the Pats.
ANY GIVEN SUNDAY!!!!!!!
You folks up there are just delusional, you guys aren't the '70s Steelers, or the '80s 49rs. Shit, your not even the '90s Cowboys.
And when it comes to shutting out teams or knocking out undefeateds' NOBODY BUT NOBODY has done it as much as the Steelers. You must have short term memory boys..........did you forget about the Pats 18 game winning streak coming to an end at the hands of who?.........OH YEAH, THE STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bye................ (prediction later on score, although I'm thinkin' you better flip your around. I'm lookin' at something like 27-16 Steelers. 1 TD for you guys, your FG unit might be busy on Sunday.

77,
I'll give you that one. The Pats have a very good chance of going undefeated (in the regular season). Once you get to the playoffs it's a whole new season, as the Steelers proved by being the 6th seed and running the table a couple years ago.
And ya know...............I'm really not one of those guys that truly HATE the Pats. I mean, the media hype gets old and grateing at times but, I do like their swagger. Even after Anthony Smith "guaranteed " the win (which by the way the media took WAY out of context), hey, the Pats players just chuckled and more or less blew it off. I'm pretty sure they know it's just a young kid trying to fill Joey Porter's shoes in the locker room. He's confident, he is playing on the #1 ranked D in all areas in the NFL, and he's trying to get them pumped for the game. He just doesn't understand that the Steelers D will be plenty pumped when they hit the field. They REALLY HATE being underdogs and it ALWAYS brings out the best in them.
Here's what Smith actually said:

Pretty LAME..................... Nothing to say about my obviously insightful and funny post. Just stuck on an avatar & sig bet. Pitiful.
I'm just amazed that you actually said that: I don't deny that any team, (Including mine) can lose any game at any given time.
Although I don't think you truly believe it!!
Hey, what's with the pussies who run the Pats forum on scout.com. You can't even look inside the threads unless you're registered. Holy fuck, what are the twats up there in NE worried about. I mean I can see not being able to post but jeez...........what? are they afraid we'll see all the lame hero worship threads, and all the r's dropped off every word? I was surprised there weren't a ton of I wanna blow Tom Brady threads!!!!
As for score. I'm sticking with my original. 27-16 Steelers win.
I say Brady's going to test the waters deep on NE's first drive and then he's done. Moss gets stuffed all day and Welker gets his head taken off across the middle.
Tyrone Carter & Anthony Smith are going to smack down NE's receivers and TE's all day. Willie Parker runs for over 100 yds. which GUARANTEES a Steelers victory, and Ben chews up your DBs and Secondary with Ward short and Holmes &/or Washington and Wilson deep.
Brady will spend a whole lot of time on his ass today and everybody knows that "the golden boy" doesn't like to be hit. Shit, he doesn't think anybody should have the "right" to touch him.
The Steelers are underdogs. THAT is a beautiful thing. As Cowher told Boomer Esiason a several weeks ago when we had 3 or 4 starters out "I know my boys and they'll circle the wagons and punch you in the mouth". 6 hrs to game time!!!

Close but no cigar. Does Anthony Smith realize he's "THE SAFETY". Somebody better explain the nature of that position to him and stick a cock in his mouth to keep it shut.
Good defense otherwise though.
Nice call on the score M77.
That's all I can say is........TAH DAAH!
PghTGrlLvr
12-10-2007, 06:43 PM
Yep,
77..... Good call on the score. Although "if" and we should have, been able to finish a few drives in the Red Zone, it could have been a lot closer (yeah, and if pigs had wings they'd be fat pink butterflies).
ezed...... of course Smith should have kept his mouth shut, although he didn't actually "guarantee" a win. There were an awful lot of ifs attached to his guarantee that the media left out. He was actually right because those ifs didn't occur, so of course, we lost.
Other than that, I only have a couple of comments..........
1st.... Congrats to the Pats on a very focused and extremely well executed game. They're offense is a juggernaut. The only thing that will stop you guys is if Brady goes down. And they had better watch out for that, somebody who doesn't care is liable to say f it and go for his ACL or try and break his arm.
2nd... I'm not a hater, really, I'm not. I'm just a true Steelers fan from the '60s & '70s and I expect my boys to decimate other teams.
The only problem I have with the Pats is they have become virtually 1 dimensional, as they showed last night. The same reason I dislike the Colts. They don't play American Football, it's getting to be nothing but a Frisbee tournament. The rules commitee and the NFL have created exactly what they intended to back after the Steelers D of the '70 used to kill opposing Offenses (go back and check the Steelers Ds stats & shut outs from the late 70's). They (the rules commitee & the NFL) wanted to "open up" the game to make it faster and more exciting. Only problem is, that isn't what the NFL ever was supposed to be. Football is trench warfare, hard nosed, smash-mouth, and played in the mud.
Football was always a multi-dimensional game. When you have Brady at one point throwing 45 passes to 1 run play, I'm sorry, that ain't football.
It's time for every NFL team to get 3-4 big goons to play both O & D line and the rest of the team can be 7' tall Kenyans to run around as Receivers and DBs. Dink and Dunks aren't running plays, sorry. It's time to unchain Defenses again so that they have a chance to cover receivers like in the old days.
As probably the meanest Linebacker to ever play the game Jack Lambert said..........
"I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest. If you can't take it, you shouldn't play." Jack Lambert
and....
"Dreith said I hit Sipe too hard. I hit him as hard as I could. Brian has a chance to go out of bounds and he decides not to. He knows I'm going to hit him. And I do. History."
Jack Lambert, after referee Ben Dreith ejected him from a game for knocking out Browns QB Brian Sipe.
the following week on MNF he told Howard Cosell:
"Quarterbacks should wear dresses"
He was right. Hopefully we'll see you in the AFC Championship game, but we've got alot of work to do before then.
Later & congrats guys...............

Ok Guys,
I'll give you what this thread started out as...........
Super Bowl Prediction. and if you look down you'll see what it feels like to even think about watchin' this game if it happens.
More than likely, barring a season ending injury to Brady or Romo...
NE and Dallas, and NE walks away with a win. Not a blowout, because SBs rarely are. But NE has the ability to make it so.
Though I'm still hopin' my boys get their shit together and give it a run as in '05. 8)

Well Gentlemen,
It was a good Thursday night for The Burgh!! Besides the probable loss of Willie Parker for the season (I'll wait for Friday's test results) though if it's his fibula, Davenport will be our work horse. Not a problem, he's more of a power running back (as in The Bus) anyway.
As Coach Tomlin said last night:
"Our heart goes out to him because he's a competitor, he's a warrior. As a team, we're not going to throw a pity party. It's part of the game, people get hurt, we'll adapt and improvise and move forward."
Gotta love Tomlin. He's definitely more Chuck Noll than Bill Cowher. And I think we all know what "Chaz The Emperor Noll" (as our beloved, retired announcer & inventor of The Terrible Towel, Myron Cope) called him, did for The Steelers organization. 8)
back to Thurs:
The Steelers beat The Rams, Pitt beat Duke at The Garden, and The Penguins beat the Boston Bruins. AND.........Sidney Crosby BEAT UP a Boston Bruin!!!!!!!
and hhhhhhmmmmmmmm lets see.............. The Steelers are now 10-5, if they beat The Ravens next week they go to 11-5. Interesting, that's what they finished the regular season at in 2005 when they went on to win the Super Bowl!!!!!!!
INTERESTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Later.
As I recall Crosby got the worst of the fight with Ferrence. Crosby started the fight and threw the first blow but it went downhill for him from there.
Gotta respect a prolific scorer like him mixing it up though and not relying on a team goon to take care of his business.
The kid has character, and unbelievable talent.
Thank God we got a bye week to get our heads on straight. We haven't accomplished anything yet.

CONGRATS TO THE PATS FOR 16-0.
Now the "new" season begins. Lets see who you guys play, Steelers or Jax? Either way I'm sure Belichick will have you're guys prepared. Hey, the Eagles, Ravens, and now the Giants could have beaten them. Only one problem...........they didn't play 60 minutes of football.
The Pats NEVER quit. They're hungry and the want it more. That is the mark of a truly great team. Welcome to the big league boys, that's what the Steelers of the '70s were like. They WANTED IT and would not be stopped. We'll see if the fire in the Pats belly stays lit during the playoffs.

Late to the thread, but not the sport. Yes indeed, I'm a Patriot Hater! My ideal scenario is to have Patriots reach the SB and eclipse the '73 Dolphins, or '71 or whenever that was. Hated those Dolphin teams even more than the '07/'08 Patriots.
Then the Pats go down to the 'Hawks on first Sunday of February. They get to 18-0, but perfect record ruined.

 The Patriots were gonna go down at the hands of the Hawks? I needed a good laugh Odelay, thanks.
Green Bay and Favre are tough to beat in the snow. The Hawks actually did it a couple of years ago in Seattle but the conditions in this game played to Green Bay's advantage. Personally, I feel that if the Pat's are going to get tripped up it's by a team with Super Bowl experience and a good solid QB. That's why I predicted the Seahawks. But both Green Bay and Indianapolis fit that description too. This thing ain't over for the Patsies yet.

p.s. Brady might have shot his wadd on last night's game. He might be spent. No bullets left in the gun.

The Packers did beat Seattle yesterday in the snow. That's why M77 is taunting me. I merely made the point that Seattle beat GBay a couple of years ago in the snow.
We welcome the chargers to the fridged cold of New England next weekend. As Green Bay will welcome NY.

Just as the "Patriots" had to win the SB in 2001 after 9/11 for Mom apple pie and the good ol' USA, the Steelers won in '05 so that nice guy Jerome Bettis could finally win a SB and retire "coincidently" (sp) in his hometown of Detroit, and the "great Peyton Manning" and lovable loser coach Tony Dungy were handed one last year because after coming so close so may times they "deserved" it.
So now we have the scenerio of the Pats perfect season vs. the lovable grey haired Brett Favre and retirement.
My prediction........ "spygate" comes back to bite the Pats in the ass one last time and the NFL lets Favre go out a winner.
Trust me boys, a friend of mine has said the NFL is fixed ever since SB XXX when the Steelers Neil O'Donnell threw 2 bought and paid for picks against Dallas. Same spot, same guy and not a Steeler in sight. I just wonder how much it cost Jerry Jones (probably a bigger A-hole than even Al Davis the owner of the Raiders).
So there ya go........ Pats vs. Green Bay. Bellicheat is f'd by the league and Favre retires a champion.
Later............

Did you make this up? Another conspiracy theory? Let's see if it happens! I don't think it will.
How about the Pats by 40 over whoever the NFC sends?

ezed,
Yes, I made it up. But not far fetched. If it happens, there is only one explanation, and you heard it here first.
I hope I'm wrong because Pro Football is one of my great passions. But if I'm right...............................
Later.

I predict that it won't be below zero in Glendale.
TO ALL THE PATRIOT HATERS!!!! HATE GET'S YOU NOWWHERE! We're in the Super Bowl. We couldn't have done it without that film of the fat fuck Jet's coaches jumping up and down on the sidelines.
It really laid out our game plan for the entire season. DON'T EVER LET YOUR ASSISTANT COACHES JUMP AROUND LIKE A BUNCH OF HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS HIGH ON RED BULL!
We stuck with that philosophy and we're in the Super Bowl.... AGAIN!!!!.
GB/NY now at 20-20, so I must make two predictions. Pats 34 GB 24 or Pats 34 NYG 14.
