Another loss for the collectivists.

The Washington E.A. union used dues for political activities. Last year the Washington supreme court ruled 6-3 that a state statute that required non-members to "opt in" if they want to pay to support the union's political activities (rather than to "opt out" if they don't) somehow violated the union's First Amendment rights.

The USSC in a unanimous court stated that "it does not violate the First Amendment for a State to require that its public-sector unions receive affirmative authorization from a nonmember before spending that nonmember’s agency fees for election-related purposes."
