The 5th Annual Transgendered Day of Rememberance

For all the Victims of Transgendered Violence

Taken from Gender.org Website:

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder in 1998 kicked off the Ôø?Remembering Our DeadÔø? web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Since then, the event has grown to encompass memorials in dozens of cities across the world.

Although not every person represented during the Day of Remembrance self-identified as transgendered Ôø? that is, as a transsexual, crossdresser, or otherwise gender-variant Ôø? each was a victim of violence based on bias against transgendered people.

There were according to the Gender.org website, 38 TG persons killed this year. Including some that we on this website would be familiar with, Tula from Canada and Michelly from Italy
