Charlie Kirk was a victim of his own ideology. If America had banned guns, he would be with his wife and kids right now.

Re: Thought for the Day
Even though the man who killed Kirk turned himself in, people are still arguing over his motivations. It looks more likely to me that he was a right-wing extremist who didn't like Charlie Kirk, but I don't rule anything else out.
He grew up shooting every imaginable kind of gun. As a part of his family's culture. I'm not saying that's the only factor but probably if they were avid badminton players and not shooters, he would have been less likely to do this (not that I like badminton).
Several months ago, A Republican showed up the homes of several Democratic lawmakers in U.S. and committed a bunch of murders. Political violence is escalating. Guns, online radicalization, and political polarization. Scary times.

Re: Thought for the Day
His motivations seem very murky at this stage. I suspect he might turn out to be just another disturbed person with a confused mix of beliefs whose brain has been addled by spending too much time online.

"Utah's Republican Governor Spencer James Cox said Tyler Robinson was in a relationship with his roommate - who was in the process of transitioning - though his motive is unclear and officials have not said whether the relationship is relevant to their investigation"

Looks like the Biden Team isn't too happy with the former vice president Kamala Harris's upcoming book:107 Days, and are taking anonymous shots at her. And it also looks the Biden Team never fully embraced her in taking over for Joe Biden's campaign. https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-...ats-rcna230450

Re: Thought for the Day
The lingo, the phrases, among gamers, among the alt-right. Some of these memes when you learn what they mean, it's hard not to shake your head. Such confusion and so little ability to think critically.
I like to put it this way. There are people who espouse views that are so disgusting and so evil that many people in their heads could at least justify violence against them. Not with moral certainty but as a possible justification. The reason people don't act is because there are thousands of people who have those characteristics (racism, sociopathy, etc). Someone will fill their place and nothing is accomplished. The other thing is that there is an element of subjectivity. Some people who are perfectly nice are held up as symbols of evil and are vulnerable to people using the same motivations to kill them. Nobody says that when people engage in political violence that only truly reprehensible people will be killed. Might not even be half the time.
If you want a society that functions, you can't have people murdering one another over their views. You can't justify it. You can't have tens of thousands of people wanting to make ghoulish statements intended to be menacing. Any political movement that makes room for this conduct will destroy our society.
