I was on a video set in the valley.
The guy makes 3 new movies a month and he is getting about $35K/month from those 3 new releases a month.

The models actively​ promote the content.
He has events and meet ups.
He sells online.

He may be making $35k a month from the whole of his back catalog if he has a large enough one, but he's not making that from his new shoots. His new shoots are helping sell the back catalogue, this is how most DVD productions work. Also is that 100% profit, does that cover his book-keeper, his taxes, his promotional tools, his webmaster, etc. ?

This is a 'pay to play' environment & the bottom line is that the more we pay (sign up) the more and better quality choices that we will have...

Everybody pirates. I challenge to find anyone who at some time hasn't tape-to-taped, downloaded a piece of software, copied a record or CD, or torrented a movie. It's accepted that it's part of doing business. The challenge is to create something that makes is easier for the consumer to actually pay for what they want, then copy it. Whether that's because they want the physical item (comic book, vinyl,) or that the price and easy of use is so good (Netflix) or in the case of porn, or what we believe we do at Grooby, is deliver curated content, on a guaranteed regular schedule, of close to what a member is looking for at a price that for many, is worth paying rather than having to search elsewhere for it.
Issues really arise when piracy becomes a profit making business.

For my own personal tastes, I like Asian American Tgirls. That's my thing ... and if someone was to create a site that focused on just that, with good updates, new models at $30-$40 a month, I'd be in. Oh wait, I did create one, the problem was it wasn't profitable. There wasn't enough people with the same tastes, willing to pay.

But you are correct, without the income then there wouldn't be the environment and budgets to be able to shoot more porn. People who boast about never having paid for porn, fail to understand that for them to watch that porn, someone has had to have paid for it. As long as we can pay the budgets, we'll continue to produce. Grooby is in the privileged position of being able to try new ideas or shoots, as we have the systems in place so it doesn't cost too much for us to try it. So we are looking to try some new ideas by the end of this year.

You're obviously knee deep in the industry groobysteven. You have the real data but even accedotally your statements are proven. I think of Reddit, there's a decent sized community and when ever there's a black girl there's very little interest.

I don't know if you see but we post on Reddit quite a bit, it's a good place to get a 'temperature' of a model as much as a bit of marketing - and you are correct, the ebony girls get way less feedback there. We have to be careful of making judgements on that though, as somewhere like Reddit (or this forum) do have a specific type of surfer whereas other venues may have those more into a wider range of models.

I usually rotate my subscriptions. That being said, after reading your posts in this thread, I think I'll cancel one and re-up with BTGs again.

As far as my favorite Grooby sites are concerned, LBXXX is up there with FEMOUTXXX and TSCASTING COUCH looks great - but I wish there were more frequent updates.

I think I was the only one in the company who wasn't surprised at that one, I had a good idea through Shemale Yum what a good sector want.
However, I've had more misses than hits, I think. You just have to keep trying.

Tgirls.porn, Femout.XXX are examples of sites that we've launched in the past few years, which hit a smaller demo-graph but have done extremely well. Not only do the members like those sites, there are many models who want to be on Tgirls.porn and Femout.XXX (as well as TSCastingCouch.com) are sites which are not only working well, but helping bring new models into the industry. When we identified that Shemales-From-Hell (soon to have a name change) wasn't performing as well as it could, we combined it with Brazilian-Transsexuals into one package giving members of both sites more reason to stick around longer and lowered the production cost. It's a win-win for everyone.
