Marine Corps Veteran Publishing Book on Homeless Vets in Vegas

Renae Lupini is a Marine Corps veteran, photographer and upcoming author of Homeless Veterans of Vegas, Forgotten Heroes in Sin City. Renae had become stranded and homeless while traveling through Las Vegas in November of 2012. Throughout the time she spent on the streets, Renae encountered fellow veterans of all walks of life, from every corner of America and all with a story to share. It was this experience that has given Renae the inspiration to launch her project for a photo book in order to share the personal tales of the homeless veterans of Las Vegas.

Renae is currently seeking funding for her project on Kickstarter.com with contribution options for both business and private participation starting at $5.00. Kickstarter is a platform that allows artists to promote projects for funding and offer rewards for doing so directly to the contributors. Rewards for funding Homeless Veterans of Vegas, Forgotten Heroes in Sin City include digital copies of photos used in the completed book, prints of photos, copies of the book and personally dedicated books for various contribution levels. Homeless Veterans of Vegas, Forgotten Heroes in Sin City is scheduled to be a six month endeavor set to commence immediately once the funding period is complete and be ready for print in March, 2014.

Renae describes the concept of her book as A photo-documentary of the homeless veterans who survive the unforgiving streets and shelters of Las Vegas... The stories of Homeless Veterans of Vegas will tear your very soul apart, fill it with inspiration and leave you with the courage to face any adversity that comes your way.”

Wow interesting project. Best of luck to her. Hopefully this will spread enough awareness so that the vets will get more support.

It is pretty bad out here. I'd say at least half of the homeless people I've seen are vets, many of them suffering from severe cases of PTSD and other forms of depression. An absolute shame that these people sacrificed their lives for their country (even if they are alive physically) and couldn't even get the help they needed upon return.

Many of them live under the strip in the flood drains. They have a whole city under the city basically. You can google the article about that, I can't remember where I read it.
