The answer is simple. Because I keep hoping you have the intellectual capacity to put forth a non-ridiculous response. So far, in my dealings with you... hasn't happened. I keep hearing about this witty, amazing, thoughtful, intellectual Bella... maybe there is another.

The Red Cross question wasn't posed or implied in the context of applying to Jamie. It was an actual legal thing that legally is called a 'question'...legally.

As in, the the other person stated, "...Asking for money you haven't earned is begging and scrounging and nothing more..." The Red Cross is probably the largest and most easily recognized charity in the world, which is why it immediately came to mind when I was thinking of a charity who asks for money they haven't earned. It was a question to the poster, 'Winston93' and not used in any way to support an argument that Jamie is or equal to the Red Cross.

I mean, it is so insane that I actually feel stupid having to explain the difference. Begging is persistent, consistent, and borders on pestering. If you've ever owned a dog, you know what begging is. Scrounging is foraging for leftovers. Neither one applies here. This was ONE post... in ONE thread (at least until Eva posted as well). Is the Red Cross 'begging' when they ask for donations? By your definition, pretty much EVERYONE in the world is a beggar, including, I would suspect, yourself. At some point or another, unless you are completely off the grid, you have probably applied for credit (i.e. - asked for money you didn't have / earn) or had a loan. If not, kudos to you.

Nor do your other points apply. It is incongruent to say that because 'There are people who actually need help far more desperatley than these 3 do' that this is an invalid request. In fact, I would say that is a total cop-out to clear the conscience.

Interesting enough, if you're donating to starving Africans, it is more likely that you're lining the pockets of corrupt politicians and/or bureaucrats, so I hope you're actually going to Africa and handing your dollars to a starving one or at least doing your homework on the charities you donate to.

Also you're confusing aid money and charitable donations; the money that lines the pockets of dictators and corrupt politicians is aid money paid from western governments not charity donations. Aid is paid from government to government and yes you're right often that money doesnt go to the needy. but when I or any individual donate money it goes straight to the charity who work out there and I can rest safe in the knowledge that my money is doing some good at least. krissy you've been losing this argument for a long time. Just give up please

Well i dont donate to dodgy charities like that and anyway you were talking about foriegn aid money going to corrupt governments. the charity i normally support is Oxfam a well established and respected charity here in england.
