Ironically enough, the two leads in the film mime to the vocals of others. And I've always felt that Richard Beymer was miscast and, well, wet, as Tony. But the rest of the film, from the stunning and highly innovative visuals to the choreography and the singing, never misses a beat.

There was an interesting interview in The Guardian a short while ago with Russ Tamblyn who played Riff, which lifted the lid on some of the myths around the film.

I'm feeling happy, so here's a song that sums it up. Andrew Gold died far too young last year. One of the best "falling in love" songs ever.

    Ahhh... Badfinger.

Before they were Badfinger they were called The Iveys. Two of the band - Peter ham and Tom Evans later killed themselves. Very sad. They had a real melodic gift.
This song was used in the film The Magic Christan

And this was written for them by Paul McCartney.

Dino - you always launch a musical nuclear bomb after every posting I make of "tunes' !!!!!

Here is the genteel Marianne faithful in the 1960s with a jagger-Richards song.

Before the mars bar, before the addiction, before she broke p with jagger and before she acquired a very different voice.
