I didn't even know what sex was when I told my mother I was a girl. lol But then, when I was about 8 or 9, I got this impulse to kiss boys. I'd be talking to a boy, and suddenly I'd fantasize that he'd start kissing and holding me.

So that was a good 6 years after I was asking to have my nails polished and was dancing around my living room in my mom's clothes. That's when my mom told me, "Little boys don't do that. You're a boy, like daddy. Mommy's a girl."

I told her right then, "No. I'm a girl too."

She laughed and said, "Well, when you go to school and you have to pee, they'll make you use the boys room. You're a boy. You'll see."

My mother and grandmother told me this story. I wouldn't have remembered it. But I do remember crying and asking to have nailed painted. That's my earliest memory.

dont ya just luv how time and cultures evolve and how "your personal experience" is just that. Some people mature faster, some mature slower.... Clearly this "child" knows what she wants & needs.. Not to mention.. Stevie wonder can seeeeeeeeeeeee that this childs mother and father are highly educated in this disorder and educated the child.. Soooooooooo ???

After watching it i must say its so nice to see she got such a supportive family. Its not like they "force" her into this lifestyle, they are just open minded parents letting her do what she wants and they allow her to be herself. Im not qualified to say whats right or wrong but i just feel it might be a little early to let a specialist say she got GID at the age of 3 - but then again they were worried for her and have cunsulted lots of leading experts over the last 8 years - if they come to the same conclusion as Jazz i wish her all the best on her journey. I still feel slightly sad for her though, not because she got GID but because "we", as a society, already punish her because of her choices and her last words in part 1 ("i dont have many friends at school") made me so sad.

Imo a big thanks to the producers of the docu as well, as they put the spotlight on Jazz and her family and maintained to show them respect and be informative and not make fun of her situation.

Exactly. My parents thought anything that was outside the realm of conventional gender roles was "gay". So they told me it was "ok if I was gay" in my mid teens, that they realized I was born that way, but that I would have a hard life if I flaunted it. And all I ever did was flaunt it. lol

At first, I thought this was very advanced thinking on their parts. And if you listen to mentally ill haters like Rick Santorum, in some ways it was. But they didn't take me saying "I'm a girl" very seriously. I didn't even know what transsexuals were until I saw them on television. My parents never brought up the concept. Things like surgeries to become a woman were like worshiping Satan as far as they were concerned. lol
