Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
The following prices were collated last September so they will not be accurate now (particularly Libya) but are an answer to your question and a fair profile in general:
Venezuela $0.047 a litre, $0.18 a gallon (cheaper than bottled water)
Saudi Arabia $0.13 a litre, $0.48 a gallon
Libya $0.14 a litre, $0.54 a gallon
Turkmenistan $0.19 a litre, $0.72 a gallon (120 litres free each month, then pay)
Bahrain $0.21 a litre, $0.78 a gallon

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
First notice the price of gas varies quite a bit over three to four years periods regardless of which party controls the White House. It is also probably telling that the low point over the last six years is smack in the middle of the great recession. Pretty clearly consumption was at an all time low. Jobless people weren't burning gas on their way to work each day, transport of goods was at an all time low because no one was buying goods and speculators amplified the aforementioned effects. Low demand, low prices. Wait a minute, do you think fuel conservation might have the same effect? Naw.
The rise since the great recession mirrors the rise prior to the great recession. It's as if fuel prices have finally reached pre-recession levels. If prices are also reflective of consumption, could it be that the current prices are just another indicator that the economy is recovering? Naw.

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
I don't give a rat's ass on your 2000 word explanation on why gas is 4 bucks a gallon in the states unless it's late and I'm having a hard time falling asleep. You bore me to tears dude. The point is not so much why gas is 4 bucks a gallon...I think most high school sophomores would be able to give us a dissertation on that, The point is why was it Bush's fault when it was 3.50 a gallon ? Maybe you didn't watch the vids.....Unless you got an answer to that.....save your intricate knowledge of the petroleum industry for someone who cares. My question is a political one. I thought that was quite clear.

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
It looks like everyone's got their talking points from the West Wing now. Full time Obama apologist Andrea Mitchell who plays a chief "correspondent" on TV occasionally, talks to Turban Durbin about gas prices this morning. Notice how she coyly frames the question about the inherent unfairness...Oh these people are so fucking shameless....you wonder if they have any clue about the humor they provide on a daily basis !!

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
If Obama was a Big Oil businessman POSING as President, then it would be his fault.
If Biden called a TOP SECRET meeting with all the Big Oil CEOS in his office, then it would be his fault.
The Republican Party IS Big Oil.
We could have had alternative fuel cars in 1965, but BIG OIL bought all the patents.
If you figured in all the extra costs the US has to pay to put gas in our cars, it's way over $4 a gallon.
This bullshit has been going on for decades. Obama, have some balls and get us a car that runs on corn oil!

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
So I am right, again, you are not interested in why gas prices are what they are, it was just a ruse on your part to dredge up old videos to smear the Democrats and praise the Republicans, ignoring for the same reason any more recent evidence that contradicts your straw man's empty bleating. If you could actually mount an argument that explains why Republicans are better than Democrats you might have more friends here; just saying it as if it were a fact is fatuous. (86 words).

Head to Somalia. The Canadians are there.
The Observer reports: "Last month oil exploration began in Puntland by the Canadian company Africa Oil, the first drilling in Somalia for 21 years. Hashi, who sealed the Africa Oil deal, said the first oil was expected to be extracted within the next '20 to 30 days.'
Then Venezuela. We got Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia. Then... what?!?!?
Remember climate change is a myth. So keep on burnin'.

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
The US exports 2.8 million barrels of product to various countries around the world. Also the crude price is set by the NYC oil traders and NOT the oil sheiks. The oil traders don't believe Obama's attempt at taking Iranian production of 2.5 million bbls a day off the world market can work without substantially creating shortages.

Re: Gas Prices.....What To Think?
There are rare moments when a wave of nostalgia comes over me for Slick Willie. In fact, in comparison to the man in lieu of a President that currently inhabits 1600 Penn. Ave, I'd actively campaign this for this guy....Compare what he says about Keystone Pipeline with the testimony of that pinhead Energy Secretary Chu in his testimony . ....
At a hearing this week, Rep. Alan Nunnelee, R-Miss., specifically asked Chu if "the overall goal" of the administration is to "get our price down." Chu's answer was no.
In fact, he said that "somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," which are in the neighborhood of $8 a gallon.
