Yes, I think that the natural beauty of Hawaii was supposed to emphasize that our human problems are with us wherever we are. We can't escape our fate.............paradise is where you make it and how you make it and can't be found in a place or time.

Raging Bull, haven't seen it for years; is this de Niro's greatest performance? The weakness of the film is typical of the biographical film that suddenly leaps forward in years, particularly after La Motta's retirement and move to Floida. Overall, ranks with Mean Streets as Scorsese's best film.

J Edgar - directed by Clint Eastwood. A noble attempt to show the powerfully inhibiting affections of suppressed feelings in the life of one of the oddest and most powerful Americans of the last century. Filmed in crepuscular shades and ploddingly acted. All in all an effort to sit through to the end - and as a bio pic burdened by terrible prosthetics.
