Thank you for giving us all this chance Thanos to come up with suggestions.
I think the mods are doing a great job and, personally, I love this place, which is why I keep coming back for more. But I have some suggestions:
- - Creating three areas for the posts that would normally go into the Discussion forum. A separate area for polls, another for porn pics and another for transgender-related news items
- Creating new rankings and renaming 'Certified Tranny Expert' to 'Certified Transsexual Expert'
- Requiring that, in order to become a CTE, 50% or more of posts must be in the General Forum (or in one of the categories that this may be split up into, if my first suggestion is taken on board).
- Stopping spammers by requiring new members to type in a piece of text shown on the webpage, or by some other way.
- Finding a way to stop people from re-registering more than once or twice when banned, by banning an IP address. A single ban may be forgivable, but if you are banned again and again you should be banned for life.
- Keeping a members directory or list (there was something like this once, I think).
- Finding ways to get more girls to come here or members like Gia and Danielle to return.
- A little more moderation in the Politics forum so that flame wars don't keep flaring up.
Those are some ideas I feel could improve the forums. I'll try to think of some more.
Damn, this was a long time coming.
I agree with LG though, some sub-forums to general discussion would be helpful because as it is, anything goes. Even after the politics and sports boards were created.
The mods, I guess, could come up with a list of bannable offenses.
Some boards have a feature where, if you hover the mouse over a topic you get a preview of what it's about. I find myself doing that and nothing pops up out of habit. That would be helpful.
That's all I can think of really.
i agree with LG and tom, with a few twists:
1. to keep spammers away, make a poster have a minimum post count before they can start a thread.
2. ip bans don't always work. sometimes people are in block ips.
3. the "hover" function tom is talking about is great...
Yeah, plus I thought most people have dynamic IP's, which would make banning kind of difficult, no?
they never left they just don't log inQuote:

but that's NOT a rule; it's a suggestion which is what I've read alot of in this thread...............
as far as rules go:
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
1) The discussion of pedophilia of any sort is prohibited.
2) Do not take anything too seriously. Remember, these are just words, and this is just a forum to discuss topics.
3) If you post a thread, and it gets deleted, it means we meant to delete it. Do not vent in the forum, do not whine to another mod about it, it’s a dead issue. If you post a reply, and it gets deleted, it means we meant to delete it. Again do not whine to another mod about it, it’s a dead issue.
4) If you post a thread, and it gets moved to another forum, it means we meant to move it. Don’t whine about it, bitch about it to a mod, again it’s a dead issue.
5) Do not post false information. Do not make assertions or accusations without stating their basis.
6) Avatars must be limited to a maximum of 150 pixels x 150 pixels.
7) The right to make fun of stupid people has and will always be welcomed and allowed. If you sign on and make a dumb statement anyone is allowed to make fun of it & you.
8) Your signature should contain either a quote of your preference or a link to ONE website. That website link should pertain to something involving you DIRECTLY!!!!!!!!!! This means no multiple links with your myspace, xpeeps, yahoo group(s), msn group(s), etc.
9) Do not "share" information from this website anywhere else.
10) Do not copy reviews, warnings, "informational posts", public service announcements OR ANYTHING ELSE from sites such as CL, TER, SER, etc. You may post a CL advertisement for joke purposes, keep in mind if you do to delete any telephone #’s, addresses, or other personal info that might be in that ad.
11) A provider/escort or the client/customer/john/trick (whatever) can't come on the board in ANY SECTION discussing anything that happened between the 2 of them personally.
12) Members can't bombard moderators with links to threads they have problems with expecting immediate results which IF AREN'T handled immediately result in sly comments about the moderation working poorly in the forums. Members should hand in a private message as a complaint to each moderator with an excerpt of what bothered them, what thread it came from, etc.
13) Escorts/Providers MUST USE the personals section to advertise themselves, NOT GEN. DISCUSSION....................
14) If you have a problem with a moderator, speak to that moderator; attempt to work things out one on one. DO NOT RUN to another moderator complaining about other mod’s actions. The moderators are for the most part a close knit group of people who discuss the ins & outs of the board on a near daily basis. Any attempts to play the “run to the other parent” trick will just get you laughed at over a shot of the mod’s choice of alcohol at the weekly/monthly party. Contrary to belief the odds of a moderator on HA being relieved of his/her position is rarer than a woman in the projects with more than 4 kids not having a c-section scar.
15) No more “I’m leaving HA because…………………………….” Threads. Who cares?!? If you are going to leave man up & leave.
16) MY PERSONAL FAVORITE: SPELL CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With the exception of our foreign friends who are doing their best to fit in with their limited English, in this day & age everyone has access to a web browser that has an add-on that not only checks your spelling on the fly BUT CORRECTS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one should have to sift through your thread/reply and guess what you meant when a spell check would have told them instantly what you meant.
17) NO LINKS TO sites containing short clips of movies you think others might be interested in. Some sites might be hidden in the links sections of said sites that might not be agreeable with your operating system, if you get my drift.
18) If you are going to discuss torrent sites, discuss the sites, DO NOT post links to files on that torrent site, especially if they are files involving various females doing wicked sex acts on film.
more to come
All good points by JWBL, especially the one about not needing more moderation in the P & R forum!
I know they continue to be members, but I'm just wondering what drove them away and how we can get the to come backQuote:

Again I agree. A moderator's job is difficult enough as it is.Quote:

Another suggestion for a rule: All posts must be in English only. I'm not referring to members whose second language is English (they include myself) who may occasionally make mistakes, but to members who type in French, Italian or German to get their message to one particular other member or to insult someone.
Nothing particularly. I'ts about the same as 90% of BB's as is. Overmoderation can kill a board.
That being said here are two suggestions
1) A better filter to weed out the spammers. It seems like they've been increasing in the past two weeks.
2) A specific forum for porn pics/clips and fights. I hit a couple of boards that have just that feature. It helps immensely with level of discourse in the main forums and gives a place for members to go at it without the fights spreading over the board? Members know that's where you go to see the fights and do your whacking. If you take the fighting to the other boards you get warned, then banned.
Quick note: I sat down after I made breakfast and rewrote what I think would be adequate, it might be overkill, scroll up and take a look................
I agree completely with the concept of a fight club type forum. I would LOVE TO MODERATE THAT SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:

I used to help moderate a large non-sex board for a number of years,Johnny. Putting the fighting in it's own forum was the best thing we ever did.
It cutdown on the hassle of patrolling every thread on every forum and kept good members from getting banned who's only fault was they couldn't stand each other? People who didn't want to deal with the fights could simply avoid the forum.
We had a 100 post minimum for entrance to it for new members to keep the general shitstirrers at bay. Gave the mods and members a chance to size 'em up before letting them have full priviliges.
BTW,It could be waved for a newbie if a long time member in good standing knew and vouched for the person.
It works, but you've got to have thick skinned level headed mod to run it.
I'll assume you're grouping me with the "others", as I've often had to argue with some of the right-wingers over all kinds of issues. Lately, I've spent less time there...Quote:

This is interesting. I must say that the BEST threads and the one that will probably bring the girls in are the ESCORT TALES, the classic example being the 'ts glam'/'cheapskate' (never liked the rascist title of that thread) FIASCO.Quote:

I get that the 'back and forth ' shit between 2 members may cause trouble but that shit is hilarious, and if you want to bring in more ladies LG, TS women peruse this site is for GOSSIP!
Great thread, Thanos. Just catching up to it (I'm so used to the Stickys being announcements for events that I can't attend :? ).
I like the suggestions on SPAM limitation/annihalation (Sp?*). I know of one forum that has a sort of membership application/review now that weeds out the spammers. Somewhat of a 24-hour waiting period or somesuch. I've also seen the graphic 'password' windows, where the person has to type in the letters/numbers from a graphic image that can't be scammed by cut-n-paste search scripts. While these methods may not entirely eliminate spam, they add a bit of an obstacle course of entry that many spammers are too lazy to navigate.
Kudos to LG for the initial suggestions, quoted below. BTW LG, if you have to stick with the monkeyman as an avatar, might I suggest Dr. Zeus from the original Planet of the Apes flick? He even has a theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shY8wsrm5jc
While the latter seems a bit too clinical and too close to claiming a PhD in the subject, I do agree that 'Tranny' can be considered derogatory by some (Not just the gurls, but the members en masse as well). Perhaps something lighthearted yet educated: 'Professor of T Studies'? Nah, that's =too= eductaed. :smhQuote:
- Creating new rankings and renaming 'Certified Tranny Expert' to 'Certified Transsexual Expert'
At the very least, figuring out some way of discounting the "Me too" posts. I've recently noticed that a handful of regulars like myself, Ecstatic, Seanchai, etc. have more than 3k in posts under our belts. Yet, in each case (And I'm not just tootin' my own horn here, I leave it to others to toot me. ) the posts were typically relevant, well thought out, detailed, and entertaining or informative (Did I use enough adjectives there? I can run down to the local Stop-n-Rob and get more if needed.) Yet there are a few members that are near or beyond that number of posts with the majority being variations of "Yeah", "Co-sign", and "LOL".Quote:
- Requiring that, in order to become a CTE, 50% or more of posts must be in the General Forum (or in one of the categories that this may be split up into, if my first suggestion is taken on board).
Ferchrissake, people, if you have the time to peruse the forum you have the time to type out more than "LOL" in response. Cutting and pasting/quoting the previous poster's three-page diatribe, followed by your own "Co-sign" doesn't count. :x
Though I work regularly with a bunch of technogeeks (To the point that I realized, just a few days ago, that now that one of them is famous, hanging out with him is a legitimate, deductible business expense. Woo-hoo!), I still haven't quite grasped how IP's, 'mac addresses', etc. operate. That said, trolls, like mice and squirrels and other undesirable rodentia, will migrate to the easiest source of sustainance. In short: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS! No matter what kind of exclusion and sanitation you use (To those unfamiliar, these are popular pest control terms), if they find a nurturing environment (ie: People that they can consistantly and regularly piss on/off), they'll find ways to get in.Quote:
- Finding a way to stop people from re-registering more than once or twice when banned, by banning an IP address. A single ban may be forgivable, but if you are banned again and again you should be banned for life.
I don't recall seeing that here at HA, but I have seen it elsewhere. Nothing spectacular or privacy-threatening, just a members list with basics like date joined, number of posts, links, etc. Essentially just a library of profile pages.Quote:
- Keeping a members directory or list (there was something like this once, I think).
More manners, less towel-snapping. Unfortunately, not something the forum itself (Or the mods) can promote/enforce. :shrugQuote:

Another forum I frequent has just started using this feature. It highlights the initial post and has the option to jump to the last post in the thread (For those hot topics that gather 100+ posts in the first day). This also helps sort out spam in that the topic might say "Hot T-Gurls In Action" while the initial post sez "Lower your mortgage rate now!".Quote:

I'm with Johnny on this. Politics and Religion is all about a slugfest, be it in ideas/idealogy, words, or fisticuffs. I was soooooooo glad when it was banished to its own section of the board. I still peek in now and then, but generally stay out because I have enough stress issues in my life. P & R is all about difference of opinion, challenge, and argument. By nature, there is no moderation. Short of people making distinct threats to one another, the mods are best served by just staying out until they see/smell smoke.Quote:

Excellent idea, though you are likely to see two avenues here. Example "How do I protect myself during anal sex?" (A health issue) and "What's your best advice for a first-timer to anal sex?" (Could be considered both a helath issue and one of social/general discussion, ie: Technique/preference).Quote:
I suggested months ago a Health-type forum, there seems to be a bunch of people that have questions and seek answers from others on HA.
And then Johnny got biz-ZAY! To be continued...
*I don't use spell check because I paid attention in school and get it right about 99% of the time. I also subscribe to the view expressed by Mark Twain/Samuel Clements: "Anyone that knows only one way to spell a word lacks imagination". :)
I disagree with this one, LG. First of all, we'd have to have a board-qualified definition of what constitutes English (what about jargon, l33tsp3k or however you write that, Eubonics, etc.?), and what would be so bad about some folks conversing amongst themselves in their own language? Use bablefish for a rough translation if you must know what they're on about. Though maybe a separate forum for farangs would work, lol.Quote:

Part deux... (Yah, it's a slow day here)
You know that ain't gonna happen. Bad shit happens, people talk. Best example is the poor Chicago schmuck that scolded a little girl for running out into the street in front of his car. Because he touched her during his lecture (Holding her by the arm), he is now a registered sex offender for "molesting" the girl. I have a registered sex offender living a few doors down the block, convicted of statutory rape. Caveat: He is now married to his "victim". Her parents didn't approve of the relationship and, when she was still seventeen, called the cops. It's all relative.Quote:

Guilty! And I think she's pretty pissed at me as a result (And I said =GOOD= things). This is hard to enforce. At best, you might be able to limit it to a names-have-been-changed etc. policy, but people aren't completely fucked in the head (Except for names-have-been-changed-etc.) and will suss out who is being talked about (I mean, c'mon, we all know who "Blondie" is in the respective threads).Quote:

Truth be told, I like the recent 'war story' thread that the gurls have been posting to. I have been taking notes as to what =NOT= to do on a 'date' and it also gives an insight into what they have to deal with on a daily basis. So long as they don't name names, I'm cool with it (Especially if they don't name =MY= name!).
Relative. An example is Jessica (Jessica's Diary). Occasional posts, a handful of images, some discourse with fans. I don't have a problem with that. In fact, I'm challenged to think of a gurl who's abused that privelege.Quote:

Yah, the "I'm tired of you fags" diatribes are old and thin, but there are some who just want to do a blanket "I'm off but available" thread. Seriously, more than one person has referred to HA as a men's club/locker room. True, it may be, but if we want to have more gurls present and posting we need to collectively stop poking them in the eye.
Or at least accompanied by a Babelfish translation. Sometimes a note via foreign (Not English) language is appropriate, but entire posts/threads of same are downright impolite (Unless the thread itself is in that respective tongue).Quote:
Another suggestion for a rule: All posts must be in English only.
The gurls already prettyy much get just that. Their biggest incentive would just be respectful treatment from the general populace of the forum. I like to type so stretching it out didn't bother me, besides sometimes you need to stretch things out to make sure some folks understand you completely..............
I just threw some things out there, that's what the idea of the thread is, to throw ideas out and see who agrees/disagrees and you made excellent points on several things I posted, thanks for that..........
I wouldn't have any new rules to suggest, but I do have an idea about improving structure.
If I were NYCe or Thanos, I'd make a new catagory called "Hung Angels", where every girl that has that designation would essentially have her own sticky thread. That way fans would know where to go to find out what specific girls are up to, see new pictures, or whatever. Obviously, the girls all have there own sites, but this would be more of a general database directing people where to go to see more.
Basically, encourage personal mini blogs/threads from each Hung Angel.
The HA girls would, I'm sure, continue to post in General Discussion at times, but this would make things more organized. Ecstatic has already posted a pretty concise list of most of the girls who post regularily, so there you go.
I think that having their own, exclusive threads would be incentive for the girls to post more frequently.
Just my :2cent
I'm in total agreement with this one too. It's kind of hard to fight human nature and everybody isn't going to like the same things. Sometimes though, some people get crazy with it. Someone will start a "Big ass" or "Big floppy dick" or whatever they like thread. Someone almost always comes in and says something negative. Always kills the vibe.Quote:

I know what you're saying but I think you didn't get my point. I've seen it in many threads- people communicating in French, Italian or German- and it pisses me off. If you want to get a message through to only one person, use the PM function.Quote:

Often the foreign languages are used for flaming or insulting particular members. Therefore, we must disagree- I think posts in the threads should be in English. Those who have difficulties in English can be forgiven for bad English, but posting a load of gobbledygook of (often bad) French intended at hurling abuse at another member annoys the fuck out of me.
As for putting porn pics separately from the main discussion, I'll agree on that.
EDIT:I just realised that I'm the one who first suggested it in any case, so..erm..I'll definitely agree on it. It was a brilliant idea, wasn't it?
Mippleboy ( ) has a cool idea here. Perhaps a distinct section where each gurl can post thoughts, comments, schedules, etc. specific to her. Though it is somewhat represented in the personals section as it is, it could be more focused/specific in a 'Blogosphere' type of thread.Quote:

I think it was upwards of 2+ years ago we had this feature? It's a standard component of the phpBB sw, but for some reason it was disabled. It was a very useful tool for finding any member, when they joined, how many posts they have, etc. That was back in the day when megabody, seanchai, me, and maybe 2 or 3 others had all of 1000+ posts (and iluvshemales had the totally inaccessible record of 3000+, now long since eclipsed). I would love this feature just to add in compiling the list of transwomen who post here!Quote:

Excellent idea, Honda! Why not? You could say that some of this would be in the personals, some in the porn pics forum (assuming one is created), some in profiles, and some in general dissention, er, discussion, but this would be more focused.Quote:

OK, I agree there. Perhaps if the thread is language-centric, that would be one thing, but avoiding insults and flames is desirable. One forum that I participate on has a number of tgirls posting from the Philippines (you know the one), and they carry on conversations between themselves in Tagalog with smatterings of English, and half the fun is trying to figure out what they're saying. That kind of thing I think would be fine. Also, I remember some postings in French to Allanah when she was visiting Quebec (if memory serves, lol), and that too was fun. But your points are well taken.Quote:

And on a humble note:
HA HA! My idea was the best again! When do I get my title changed to "Mastermind"?
:P
That's what I usually do, but every once in a while someone cross-references something from one of the other forums and I think "Damn, I wish I didn't miss that one."Quote:

Oh, that one. :wink:Quote:

In the end dumbfuck, dumbefucke, el dumbfuck, and dumbenfuckenzie all mean the same.
Ultimately, you're going to have some sort of 'chat' activity. It's unavoidable. Just look at the typical party conversation. "Comment", "Yah", "Really", "Comment", etc. Human nature, as ugly as it can be, can't be helped.Quote:

Though, banter of a conversational motif can work rather well and breed further discourse. It gets ugly when nine out of ten posts are cut-n-paste quotes of the beginning of the thread followed by empty comments of "LOL", "GTFO", and "You bahstid!".
