Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
I've seen a number of countries, Mexico, Costa Rica and Portugal are just a few that accept tourist who haven't taken the jab but is there anybody out there actually travelling?
If so, can you tell us about your experience as I really want to go abroad but it just seems a little complicated for those not prepared to take the vaccine.

Super easy.
Don't be a dickwad and go and get vaccinated.
Otherwise stay home.

Doesn't really answer the question does it. With over 17 thousand post I expected a bit more maturity for someone so experienced in here.

Steven is the forum owner.
Also that said, my cleaning lady, who I just let go last week for being unvaxxed and lying about it, has recently gone to Vegas and is apparently going to Montego Bay at the end of this month.

Exactly this, if you’re too stupid and selfish to do the right thing, you deserve to forgo any privileges that the rest of us have
-
Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
Nope, but if the standard of vaccination becomes +2 booster shots and beyond, I will be

Natural immunity didn't work for the 5 million who have died, nearly one million in the US alone.
Your post does at least confirm that HungAngels has no immunity from bullshit.

You realize being vaxxed doesn't prevent you from being a carrier right?

Of course I do.
And I also recognise it's your right not to get vaccinated no matter how much of a dickwad one may be.
But the non-vaxxed are the ones taking up the hospital beds, and sucking up the resources as well. They're also less likely to take being a carrier/spreader seriously, and thus more of a risk.
So it's your right to not get vaxxed - and it's my right to tell you to stay the fuck home.
On other notes, I've travelled to Italy, Croatia, Turkey, US and Canada over the past 12 months - as a vaxxed passenger, some places are more complicated than others. BA have an awesome app where once everything is uploaded to, you sail right through. Jet2 have been pretty good. Turkish and Croatian borders had to show proof of job. Los Angeles and Canada, have to show proof of vaxx to sit down in a restaurant/cafe or take public transport.
Frankly, the ones not taking the jab and committing suicide by stupidity, I'm good with. It makes the world a lighter place. I've lost one good friend through that, and I'll miss him - but can't get past how stupid he was to travel when an anti-vaxxer, and dead within 3 days of returning home.

You should probably stick to enjoying the asshole threads, instead of being one.

Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
As long as Trump supporters are dying from Covid at significantly higher rates than non-Trump supporters, Covid is a blessing.
-
Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
3 jabs, myself, and do believe vaccine is effective.

Same. And had Covid twice. Confident that I would have had a lot worse symptoms without the vax, especially the first time. Omicron was just a bit congestion.
-
Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
Who knows how many here have traveled without a vaxx, but I'm sure there are some. When a new variant is discovered in a foreign land, you can be sure it will be in your country within a day or two. When omicron was first discovered, it only took one day before there was a case reported here in California.
To me, it seems like the only way to get rid of the death threat that COVID offers is to infect everyone. Those who will die, will die. Everyone else will live and eventually the virus will become much less deadly. It's completely impossible to protect those who are vulnerable to death from COVID. Mostly because those who refuse to be vaccinated or wear masks. But even those who have been vaccinated and mask up still pose a threat to others. And everyone is burned out on COVID, so a lot of people are becoming less concerned about the virus and more concerned about getting back to normal. So you can be sure the virus will continue to spread each and every time a new variant comes out.

Or you could choose the cheaper, less traumatic option, and be vaccinated, just as you have been vaccinated against Measles, and Poliio - woud you make the same argument with those two diseases? And not sentence other people to death because you really don't care if they live or die. Do you think others may take the same view of you?

I have been vaccinated. But the problem is that a lot will not. And while the current vaccinations are not perfect, they do work well. I had COVID once since being vaccinated, it was not that bad. But I do see that some Olympic athletes have had COVID since being in China, but it doesn't seem to affect them at all. Mine was worse than them, but probably not near as bad as it would have been without the vaccine. But when I was down with COVID, I stayed at home by myself until I tested negative. So the real question is how many people are out and about with COVID spreading it around?

Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
Wow looks like I opened a can of worms with this one. All I wanted was just getting a few holiday tips. Nobody requested that you disclose your vaccination status, that's your personal business.
And I definitely ain't gonna listen to some online prick telling me to stay at home because I'm not vaccinated. I work hard pay my bills and taxes and I'm living my life.

That's an interesting way to look at a public health crisis.

Awww bless. If you pay your taxes then you should be concerned about the pricks who are unvaxxed filling up the NHS and costing us all money.
If you want to ask a stupid, ignorant question on this forum, and aren't prepared to take the answers - then fucking ask it elsewhere.

Eh you seem self righteous about it really. Like someone convinced of their moral superiority on the subject. An anti vaxer who stays home had done far less damage to the population than you have, selfishly traveling around and potentially carrying it all over the place.
So idk if it's just to make yourself feel better but that logic falls flat for you, unfortunately.

That's a silly argument, given the OP obviously does not want to stay at home. If the countries with no vaccination requirements also have lower vaccination rates then he is more likely to do harm. The other point you are missing is that people who refuse to get vaccinated are also far less likely to be taking other precautions. Do you think when this guy is at home he is always wearing a mask and avoiding others if he has symptoms?
-
Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
Incidentally, the premise that vaccination makes no difference to the chances of being a carrier appears to be incorrect. According to the latest CDC data for December an unvaccinated person is 3 times more likely to test positive than a person who's had two shots, and 5 times more likely than a person who has also had a booster.

Lol "this guy"
Well this guy is required to test himself everyday for work. Never had covid and wear a mask everyday.
I love the generalisation of assuming all unvaccinated pretty don't give an f about others. What a clown LMAO

It's not a silly argument as I wasn't addressing the OP. People who travel the most are the biggest spreaders of the disease. It's really not hard to grasp. Being vaxxed doesn't magically preclude you from being a carrier. You could be asymptomatic, which is often what happens with vaxxed people who unknowingly spread the disease.
Also it's in response to Grooby who's calling the OP a "dickwad" while talking about all these places he's flying to. Just pointing out obvious irony. No doubt he's spread the disease. I guarantee it.

This is nonsense, as you cannot guarantee anything unless you have the medical records to prove it. I was in Germany for over a month travelling from the UK between December and January, with two vaccinations and a booster, and travelled in the country to different places either on my own on public transport, or by car with friends. I doubt my movements were so different from what Steve did. I know I was not a carrier because I was tested -I was obliged to be tested- numerous times, and I would not be surprised if Steve was too. But I am sure he can speak for himself on this.

Once more proving how ridiculous you are. Tested before I flew each time on a PCR. Tested when I arrived back in UK, via PCR (and quarantined until negative result).
Still sour over your last tantrum?

Neither self-righteous or morally superior. Just sensible, and logical.

I was going to chime in to say this but find the subject kind of frustrating.
But this is important as the shots DO provide protection against infection from Omicron. To reiterate they also provide greater than 90% effectiveness against hospitalization and death. But being 5x less likely to get covid is nothing to snicker at given that the shots were designed for the original virus out of Wuhan.
Omicron didn't become the dominant variant until 11 months after the vaccines became available and it's the first variant in which there's a significant reduction in protection against infection. It will also not be the last variant and it's not clear what lineage any new variant will have but people who are vaccinated and boosted have a much better chance of being protected against disease and helping to contain it.
People keep saying they can make their own choices and I suppose that's true but people make bad choices all the time. And countries have a right to keep people out who make choices inconsistent with their values.

Love the generalization that people who don't wear seatbelts aren't safety conscious. Or that people who smoke around young children are less concerned about the welfare of others. I thought it was only wrong to make generalizations if the characteristic you're basing your judgement on has nothing to do with that judgement.

There have been studies on transmission rates and a shot that is effective against symptomatic infection tends to be effective in protecting against spread. Three shots do provide protection against infection and pure asymptomatic cases are much less likely to spread disease. Asymptomatic transmission can occur but someone who is sick is more likely to shed lots of virus.
This article was written when delta was dominant but protection against being infected correlates pretty strongly with ability to transmit and three shots of the vaccine provide protection against omicron. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...on/6403678001/

Re: Is anybody travelling whilst being unvaccinated??
Willingly unvaccinated people are:
1. Less educated than average
2. Care less about others
3. More prone to conspiratorial thinking
I'm hoping that a more lethal virus will come along and kill them all, as any society would be better with these people gone.

a) a more lethal virus may well eliminate more of us than you seem to wish for; and
b) can we stop all this talk of killing? With Jim Jordan endorsing Trump's insinuation that Hillary Clinton's 'spies' infiltrated his campaign in 2016 and should be executed for spying, the day may not be far off when someone with a high public profile does indeed end up dead. There are other ways of dealing with prejudice and ignorance, they are far superior to a bullet in the head.

Wow. I honestly haven't heard anything so nasty in years! I don't even want to associate myself with such a disgusting comment. I'm trying to find where I can delete this thread.
I'm done
