I work network security, and sadly if this guy is serious enough (even though I highly doubt it) he wouldn't get caught over something like this. Even if he did would the law really use recourses to track him down?

I've been on forums where people would literally explain how they wanted to off someone, and they're still spewing their hate years later. If he is serious, definitely warn everyone in the area and stop replying to his posts. He's probably getting a kick out of all of tis as we speak.
