Wait wait wait... you want to get out of South Florida because you're a city person? What part of South Florida are you in? Because I'm a Miami native, and that's about as "city" as you can get (not counting Davie)! Or are you referring to USF in Tampa?Quote:

Your best bets for something affordable would probably be in northern Dade or southern Broward. In Dade, the closer to downtown you get, the more expensive it'll get. In Broward, the closer to downtown and the further west you go it'll get more expensive.
I'd suggest someplace like North Miami Beach, Hollywood (west of the Turnpike), Cooper City or Miramar. Pembroke Pines if you can find an affordable place is nice, but it's quickly becoming pretty upscale. Davie is affordable as well, but like I say, it's a western-themed town that sticks out in the rest of the suburban sprawl. Convenient location, though.
If you're looking for something right in Miami, it's gonna be pretty difficult. Outside of downtown and the other high-rise districts, you've got a choice of Little Havana and Coconut Grove. Downtown is DEFINITELY out of the price range of anyone other than multi-millionaires and billionaires, and Coconut Grove is only a few steps below that level. Little Havana is so run down right now that you'll definitely find something inexpensive, but you won't want to live there.
