I surprised myself by buying a Patsy Cline album -I am crazy for her song Crazy; most of the songs are tedious heartaches about unfaithful men, but she had a voice of astonishing richness and tone.

As a child, I grew up listening to big band swing & sometimes country western (depending on whether mom or dad was controlling the sound at any given moment). But then I saw Jailhouse Rock, & everything changed. By the time I got to highschool, I was turning into a rock 'n' roll snob.
