I know it's cheesy and probably offensive on some level, but I always liked the "surprise" element - hiding it - then the reveal. Also anything with a bit of story or ingenuity and I'm in, the gonzo style does nothing for me.

Staged ( as in for the scene and planned ) would be safer. Well planning and decent acting would bring authenticity.
As for just willy-nilly out in public or filmed trapping-trickery is very dangerous.
