Viewership numbers had nothing to do with Beck leaving FOX. It was $$$$. Ratings are a tool for selling advertizing. The folks who pay the bills, the sponsors, pulled their ads because they didn't want to be associated with him in the minds of their customers. Apparently, their polling showed that he was more of a liability than an asset. Oh well. I guess they weren't all that concerned with alienating his audience. Hmmmm... What does that say about those who would take him seriously?
Sorry, America, I have googled the man's name and read his wikipedia entry, but I have never before heard of The Most Interesting Man in the World, or Dos Equis Beer, and don't recall seeing any of the Tv shows he was in although I think I once saw an episode of Charlie's Angels, without Farrah Fawcett but with that butch girl with short black hair. Some things pass me on this side of the Atlantic.
I wonder, who qualifies as The Most Interesting Woman in the World, or even The Most Interesting Transexual in the World, and do they -like the next (ex?) President of the World Bank- have to be American?
It's just an ad[] campaign. The tag line is: I don't always drink beer, but when I do I drink Dos Equis."
Personally, when it comes to Mexican beer, I prefer Negra Modelo with a slice of lime.
Most Interesting Man In The World - YouTube
Thanks for the further clarification; but the more facts that go on show, the less impressive it sounds....but...a slice of lime...in a beer? I think I'll stick to Scotland's finest.
Oh yes - Mexican beer with a slice of lime is wonderful. Sol is not a bad one. Though in the end i prefer dark beers. But my favourite mexican tipple is a good margharita (with salt)
Curious, it sounds horrible, but now it seems I must try it -one day, in Summer.
Need a Bump....This is some classic shit right here! LMAO

Unions gave $200K to MSNBC's Ed Schultz
By DYLAN BYERS | 3/9/12 4:06 PM EST
Ed Schultz, the host of MSNBC's "The Ed Show" and a champion of labor unions, received almost $200,000 from unions last year, a spokesperson with the network confirms. But in accordance with the network's rules, all of those funds were donated to charity -- in this case, the American Cancer Society.
"Any speaking honorariums have been donated to the American Cancer Sociery," Lauren Skowronski, director of communications at MSNBC, said.
The conservative media watchdog group NewsBusters reported this morning that Schultz was paid $190,000 in 2011 "for what the U.S. Department of Labor categorized as 'representational activities,'" and an additional $9,900 from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, according to the U.S. Labor Department. Skowronski said that all of those funds came from speaking engagements. Schultz, who advocates for unions on his MSNBC show and his radio program, "The Ed Schultz Show," often delivers speeches at union conventions. (See UPDATE below).
Andrew Becker, a spokesperson with the American Cancer Society, said the Society's policy is not to share information about individual donations. "Donors may choose to talk about their contributions," he adds.
The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative publication that also picked up the Newsbusters report, notes that Schultz has criticized others for their financial ties to partisan groups. Last year, Schultz suggested Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was in the pocket of Fox News because its parent company News Corp donated $1.25 million to the Republican Governors Association "to help elect union-busters like Scott Walker in Wisconsin and former Fox News host Jon Kasich in Ohio."
This year, Schultz also criticized Mitt Romney for receiving nearly $375,000 in speaking fees in 2010: "He casually says the money he gets from speakers fees is not very much. But according to his own financial disclosure forms, Mitt Romney made $374,327 in speaker fees in one year," Schultz said in January. "That ain't bad on the rubber chicken circuit, folks."
Romney's tax returns show that he donated $7 million to charitable causes between 2010 and 2011, though it is not clear how much of that came from his speaking engagements.
UPDATE: Schultz will address the issue on his show tonight, per an email from Skowronski.
Skowronski also emails to correct her earlier confirmation that all $199,900 came from speaking fees. Some of the money given to the American Cancer Society was from advertising purchased on Ed’s website.
“Any speaking honorariums have been donated to the American Cancer Society, per MSNBC policy," Skowronski writes. "In addition, independent from MSNBC, Ed’s radio show website sells advertising to a variety of businesses–both union and non-union.”
Of the $199,900 given to Schultz by the unions, only $100,000 was donated to the American Cancer Society.
