[QUOTE=Dahlia Babe Ailhad;1581625]
The same way Stavros mentions that there was a comic-book super-hero named Valiant Thor and so because of that, the real life alien Commander Val Valiant Thor couldn't possibly exist even though Phil Schneider showed an actual photograph of that guy sitting in the same room with his dad, Oscar Schneider.
-- Ok, Dahlia I confess I made an error. In writing that post from memory I called the cartoon character Valiant Thor when his name in Space Adventures is Val Tor. See the difference? The photo of Thor you refer to is of an officer who was attending that meeting -I saw him named somewhere but didn't note it down, and anyway, the man in that photo is completely different from the other alleged photos of our elusive Venusian Commander. You consistently refuse to acknowledge that Frank Stranges was a Christian evangelist who used the concept of Venusians/Planet of Love to confirm that Jesus rose from the dead and lives in eternal life. There is not much more to say about it, because there is not a shred of evidence to support the claim that ETs came from Venus, any more than Sheila Gibson can claim to be a 400 year old Venusian with special powers, other than an ability to part fools from their money.
I have never studied Darwin's theory in any great depth. I did read about it, and as time went on, i've learned other things that basically shot his theory down, in my mind - meaning, the whole discussion of ancient civilizations and the whole Anunnaki story and how these stories were plagiarized to create "Bible stories". That whole topic has really made me begin to question Biblical stories and my opinions of all religions, in general.
--Dahlia, if you took a more rounded interest in anthropology you might be aware that many religious texts from different parts of the world, incorporating dietary rules, modes of dress, rituals associated with birth, marriage, death and burial/cremation, the transition from childhood to adulthood, and all the big issues like why are we here and how did we get here, show similarities which to Claude Levi-Strauss indicated that humans have a structural affinity which can be discerned in myth, language and ritual, so the claims made by one religion that others are false is merely part of the development of that religion for that local culture, which in turn helps explain the hostility shown by religious groups who share the same geography. Elements of Islam have been taken from Judaism and Christianity, while incorporating pagan rituals that were practised in Arabia before Muhammad was born. There is no conspiracy here at all, but the evidence that has been gathered does not support the influence of extra-terrestrials, all of it shows that it is the work of earth-bound humans -including, of course, a belief in ETs
A real scientist considers and examines the possibilities of the unknown as that is what science is all about - discovery!
It's a challenge to the scientific mind to apply the scientific method.
Open your minds to new ideas instead of patting each other on the back for being as ignorant as the other is by quoting old ideas and old book titles.
--You ask the right questions about ETs, but when you get the right answers, which show that your claims are either false or unverifiable, you turn against the truth and insist that you are right. It really is very very simple, if ETs existed, we would know about it. The USA is not the only country in the world, and you still can't explain why all those ETs from galaxies far far away are white guys -have you never wondered why Aliens are never Black? And all those ETs who are buddies of Jesus and Buddha, but have never heard of Moses, Abraham or Muhammad -or L Ron Hubbard, why do you think that is?
I have not denied the existence of alien life outside Earth, but I have suggested it does not come in the form of super intelligent white guys who love Jesus, and I doubt it looks like a giant, malevolent mosquito. The truth is often disappointing, like life itself.
oh brother. So negative.
I think this sums it all up nicely. :)

“ Two Little Men in a Flying Saucer “
Two little men in a flying saucer flew down to Earth one day
Looked to left and right of it, couldn’t stand the sight of it and said let’s fly away
They took a look at a Western movie, somebody heard them say
If a horse can be a star, think how dumb the people are
We’d better fly away
Then they shook their little green antennas, scratched their purple hair
Said this planet is an awful menace, let’s go back to where we came from
Two little men in a flying saucer just didn’t care to stay
Said it’s too peculiar here, headed for the stratosphere and quickly flew away
Now they took a left in Ebbets Field in Brooklyn when the Dodgers played a baseball game
Heard all the screaming, said we must be dreaming ‘cause this planet is insane
During intermission, heard a politician making speeches as they traveled by
But they departed faster than they started ‘cause the holler blew them sky high
Two little men in a flying saucer flew down to Earth one day
Listened to a radio, saw a television show and said let’s fly away
They got their fill of commercial jingles and they were heard to say
All the people seem to be living in a nursery we’d better fly away
Traveled all around and once they’d seen us said let’s head for space
We were better off on Mars and Venus, goodness what a place to live in
Two little men in a flying saucer just didn’t care to stay
Crossed a crowded thoroughfare, saw the hats the women wear and quickly flew away
And quickly flew away
One look and then they flew away.

What i find so negative is that people search for fault instead of truth.
For the first question, You need to find that out for yourself.
hint: youtube won't give you the answer.
For the second, you claim that aliens genetically engineered humans to make them more intelligent. That would take much of human development out of our hands.

" Hat Too Flat "
We come in on the morning scan
All the way from far Arcturus
Bringing with us peace and good will
From the margins of space and time
Our women are slung down low to the ground
They're very good you've probably had one
Our men are brave, studly and wise,
A pleasure to behold
Right away we walk the walk
More or less we talk the talk
But every time we make our play
Their eyes get wide they run away
'Cause the hat stays too flat
My hat is way too flat
My English she is much better now
But my hat remains too flat
The man smells a rat
And that's the end of that
My English it is more better now
But my hat is still too flat
Fair Arcturus Fashion forecast:
Skirts will be shorter
Legs stay long
Virtual raincoats are coming back
Hats as always continued flat
Back at home the machines work hard
We folk like to take it easy
Honing our awareness of
The finer things in life
Here when I go down to my job
I work hard for what seems like a long time
I look at my watch: fifteen minutes
It felt like half a day!
Pretty soon we break for lunch
Me and the boys now I'm one of the bunch
But no one wants to sit with me
So tell me what can the matter be?
The hat stays too flat
My hat is way too flat
My English she is much better now
But the hat is just too flat
A little thing like that
They don't get past the hat
My English it is more better now
But my hat remains too flat

The Vatican doesn't deny aliens exist.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_BBSgO8o4U
Look how mankind is SO unbelievably arrogant.
They want to BAPTIZE even the aliens!!
I hate to think what would happen when the aliens REFUSE to be baptized and maybe decide to baptize the Vatican, instead.
What would the pope do, then....order the aliens be shot?? LOL

Nor did I ever once say that you did. What I said is that you WERE confused about Darwin’s theory of evolution, and that I have tried (and apparently failed) to correct those confusions in post #100 (Sasha’s right, this thread’s as long as the Bible!). It’s the difference between being confused and admitting you’re confused. Here’s an example of one such confusion->Quote:
I never once stated i was confused about Darwin's theory.
Darwin’s theory of evolution is a theory about speciation. Speciation is the process by which one species evolves from another. Darwin’s suggestion is that speciation proceeds by selection acting upon the hereditary traits of a population of organisms. In a domestic setting this selection can be artificial (e.g. we may choose to plant those seeds which produce the biggest or sweetest fruits––in the hope that sweetness or size are hereditary). In the wild, nature “selects” those hereditary traits that benefit survival. A second element of the theory relies on the observation that the fidelity of reproduction isn’t one-hundred percent and consequently new traits may occasionally appear within a population and “offer” themselves for selection. In Darwin’s second book, The Descent of Man, he applies this notion of natural selection to the arrival of the species to which you and I belong, namely Homo sapiens. Thus, indeed, Darwin’s theory of speciation has everything to do with his theory of “human evolution.”Quote:
Once i stated i don't believe in Darwin's theory, you immediately brought up "evolution" of aliens (and i addressed that too, already) and bronco mentioned evolution of species which is not really connected to Darwin's theory of human evolution (i think).
Another example of a confusion can be seen in the following exchange. In post #87 I asked, “If you don't believe in evolution, then who made the aliens...and the aliens who made the aliens?” Your response in post #88 wasI hope you can see now that my remark entails no such craziness. It’s difficult to surmise how confused someone has to be to even come up with such a reply.Quote:
Oh Trisk,
You mean, you think aliens evolved from primates?
It’s okay to be confused. Especially about Darwin’s theory of speciation. A lot of people have been. Our dispute isn’t even about the truth of theory––only about what it says. So it’s an easy thing to clear up. You’re an intelligent person. You can be self-correcting.
Our larger dispute is on the scientific merit of the claims you made in this thread concerning the planet Nibiru, the Anunnaki, green cobalt radiation beams etc. I gave you some arguments (based on gravitational theory) that (to my mind) render the existence of Nibiru and its dark star extremely unlikely. My opinion on the scientific merit of the Nibiru story aligns with that of the scientific community at large. I realize that alignment with scientific authority is a negative in your book. But I see no reason to take offense. We can cheerily disagree and continue demonstrate the silliness of one another’s assumptions.
Cast your vote and move on. Stop arguing with me for having my beliefs.
You know?...i see exactly that happening: the Vatican will proclaim the aliens are being hostile because they are refusing to be baptized.
And that will cause hatred against the aliens because the Vatican will say aliens are the anti christ. They will stop at nothing to maintain control over their "flock" of "sheeple".
By the aliens agreeing to be baptized would make the pope and the church higher than the aliens.
It would be like Jesus or whoever returning to reclaim His "throne", and the Vatican will set out rules and regulations and if He (or the aliens) do not go for it, THAT's when the final wars will begin.
The Vatican will baptize the aliens lolol Ha ha ha! I'll be watching TV that day, that's for sure.

Hi everybody,
I am going to watch the 2012 movie called, Prometheus, now.
I found it on a site for free.
It's all about...
"Following clues to the origin of mankind a team journey across the universe and find a structure on a distant planet containing a monolithic statue of a humanoid head and stone cylinders of alien blood but they soon find they are not alone."
Babe,
xoxo
Prometheus was a Titan who sidestepped the war with the Gods by never declaring his fealty to either side, though one gets the feeling he favored Cronos more than Zeus. Some myths credit Prometheus with the creation of the human race and later with stealing fire from the Gods and giving it humans. For this treason, Zeus sentenced Prometheus to eternal torture. In one story Prometheus is chained to a rock. Every day an eagle swoops down and tears out his liver. In the evening the liver grows back and the cycle begins again.
I think both these tales are echoed in the opening of the movie Prometheus. We see a lone god-like being pouring some sort of recombinant material into a stream. The god himself, then deliberately falls in after it to become a part of the a terraforming project. We see him being torn apart and used to form something new...something organic...perhaps us.
I rather liked the film, though the critics seemed not to. I quite liked the android character who was obsessed with the film, Lawrence of Arabia (not a good sign in an android of superior intelligence and strength). I was hoping the second installment would confirm my hypothesis that the god-like extraterrestrial in the opening was a Prometheus-like figure who was acting against the wishes of the other gods by inventing men.
On the other hand, this reading could be entirely off base and the whole movie is really about how the acid-regurgitating, triple-jawed aliens from Ridley Scott’s earlier movies came into being.
Enjoy. (Oh, and don't forget to send a donation to the artists and all the behind the scenes workers who made the film possible.)
Even the bear believes in this thread

Hi everyone,
Well, if you ever watched the movie, Aliens, you will probably enjoy Prometheus.
I found it to be just another monster movie filmed in the dark, with an ending of false hope. I almost fell asleep twice it was so dark (i mean dark set). It felt like bed-time throughout the film.
It started off so cool and then it just turned into another monster-like sci-fi movie.
I can't discuss things with people who don't view what i post, and who then try to discredit what i say with misquotes and take my comments out of context to try to make a point that is off topic.
Anyone who reads this thread from the beginning will see i was spot on, while others only tried to sidetrack the points. When someone posts a video and says, "see this" and no one watches it but just goes on with the misquotes and so on, it's clear as day.
Enough is enough!
I still see people trying to say i was mistaken or confused. lol
Now, i see peanut gallery comments with bears.
Great input.
NEXT!!
Babe,

Such a child Dahlia. When people disagree with you it's because they didn't read what you said. When they refute what you said, it's because they have taken you out of context, though you can't explain what the context should have been. Had you phrased the poll in an unbiased way, without the second answer having a conclusion followed by a counter-argument appended to it, the results might have been very different. But it's perfectly okay for you to be dishonest while shrilly saying that nobody else seeks the truth with the vigor you do.
Babe, every time I directly quote you I copy and paste your exact words into the quote box––like this
Sometimes I use an ellipsis but only because you're so verbose. I never said that you said you were confused. Had you done so, I would've regarded it as significant progress. Nor did I ever say that you claimed Phil had a Cosmic Security Clearance. I never attributed that to Michael Schratt either. Indeed I faithfully quoted (in post #108 ) Michael's version of Phil's rhapsody on the Dulce Wars, just so everyone could read the incredible, self-glorifying story word for word for themselves one more time (complete with the green cobalt radiation beam and the sixty-six dead Secret Service agents), before I put it into my own words with commentary (post #112). I like to think Phil would've loved my modest embellishments...and maybe even have adopted them. True story: the last time I headed up a Skunkworks project for Lockheed, I was given Multiple Cosmos Cosmic Quantum Clearance...I just assumed that Phil had the ...well, I shouldn't be talking about it...not without getting paid for it...that story's gold.Quote:
I never once stated I was confused about Darwin's theory.
I never said Phil Schneider had cosmic security clearance. You seem to get it wrong - too busy assuming what you THOUGHT I wrote.
I would like to believe many things, but that doesn’t make them likely – let alone true.
Scientific knowledge progresses by guesses; these conjectures are then subjected to severe critical tests, which they may or may not survive. Tests include peer review, others being able to repeat the observations or redo the experiments. You must acknowledge existing knowledge, and you must present sufficient information for some one to repeat the experiment.
A crucial point is that conjectures can never be proved; those conjectures that turn out to be highly resistant to testing are not proven ‘true’, but they are a better approximation to the truth than others. “Proof” is only possible in mathematics – and even then there are axioms.
Hence, science progresses as a process of elimination or falsification. In addition, the argument about whether a given conjecture solves problems better than its competitors constitutes the core rationality of science.
You can disagree with science’s philosophy – assume the least, test by experience and above make predictions. Science informs us that if we apply a flame to a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, we will get a big bang. Faith-based approaches can not predict. They cannot tell what God will do next, but only look back and say “That was God’s work.”
You can believe what you wish – especially if it gives you comfort, but don’t misuse the evidence of science, or nitpick parts of it. It is like saying that I accept six of the Ten Commandments, and additionally in number 6, what God meant to say was that it was OK to murder black teenagers if you are a cop, etc.

The Fourth Kind - 2009
Full movie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDF5M27ZHVs
A critique of this desperately awful film was published in The Guardian in 2009, I recall tracking it down when I first saw the film a year or so ago and was suspicious from the start. The article begins:
The Fourth Kind is, in so many ways, a really awful film. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and released in the UK over the weekend, it purports to be a dramatic reconstruction of events that took place in the city of Nome, Alaska, involving the disappearance of local residents. If you were to accept this film at face value, you would be left in no doubt whatsoever that these disappearances were the result of "close encounters of the fourth kind" – abduction by aliens.
The film employs several far-from-subtle techniques in an attempt to convince viewers that what they are watching is based entirely upon documented evidence. Both the trailer and the film itself open with an assurance to that effect, direct to camera, from the film's star:
"I am actress Milla Jovovich and I will be portraying Dr Abigail Tyler. This film is a dramatisation of events that occurred October 2000. Every scene in this movie is supported by archive footage. Some of what you are about to see is extremely disturbing."At least the latter statement is accurate, although not for the reasons intended by the filmmakers.
Both trailer and film frequently cut between allegedly real footage of hypnotic regression sessions carried out by psychologist Dr Tyler on her patients and dramatic reconstructions of these same sessions, sometimes employing a split-screen technique to show both simultaneously to "prove" that the reconstructions are 100% accurate. This approach seems to have backfired badly on the filmmakers as most reviews of the film are highly critical of this unconvincing "archive footage".
Kyle Hopkins wrote an excellent piece for the Anchorage Daily News debunking the movie. He conceded that there is a long history of disappearances and suspicious deaths in Nome. They have been investigated by the FBI who "mostly blamed alcohol and the cruel Alaska winter". Hopkins goes on:
According to promotional materials from Universal, the film is framed around a psychologist named Abigail Tyler who interviewed traumatized patients in Nome. But state licensing examiner Jan Mays says she can't find records of an Abigail Tyler ever being licensed in any profession in Alaska. No one by that name lived in Nome in recent years, according to a search of public record databases.Hopkins also points out that Nome is not, as portrayed in the film, a city surrounded by beautiful mountains but is instead "a flat tundra town at the shore of the Bering Sea".
Still, there is a shred of "evidence." Try Googling "Abigail Tyler" and "Alaska." You'll get a link to a convincingly boring Web site called the "Alaska Psychiatry Journal" – complete with a biography of a psychologist by that name who researched sleep behavior in Nome. Except the site is suspiciously vacant, mostly a collection of articles on sleep studies with no home page or contact information. Ron Adler is CEO and director of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. Denise Dillard is president of the Alaska Psychological Association. They said this week they've never heard of the Alaska Psychiatry Journal, or of Abigail Tyler.
Rest of the article is here:

Sorry, I just wanted to recap that we all believe in aliens. Last night, Darth Vader came to my house and told me if I don't ask Lorraine out to the enchantment under the sea dance, he'd melt my brain. :nervous:
This particular thread is Sci-Fi make believe.. I figured I'd toss a Back to the Future reference :P
Not a video game
I can only guess that posting the above link in your thread devoted to extraterrestrial life means you believe it somehow offers evidence that we’re being visited and manipulated by space aliens driving late model UFO’s. Many of the commenters (with whom I imagine you agree) think that this vid shows the President letting slip some top secret intel on the existence of our overlord aliens. I can’t really know what you think, because all you did was just plop down the link.
Of course it is a well known anatomical fact concerning the human brain that it has the appearance of a triune system. The three major parts are the basal ganglia, the limbic system and the neocortex. The basal ganglia shares most of the anatomical features (and presumably the corresponding functions) one finds in the brains of modern reptiles. For this reason some popularizers refer to the basal ganglia as the reptilian brain. However, it is a brain-structure that is common to all organisms that share a common ancestor with birds and reptiles. It is presumed that this structure is responsible for automatic responses (like fight or flight), instinctual behaviors, etc. whereas neocortex is the seat of language, reason etc. ( Triune brain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )
You can read about these notions in any of a number of books and magazine articles scarfing off the popularity of neuroscience and psychology. What functions the basal ganglia truly serves remains to be detailed. I'm not arguing the truth of these functional notions about the anatomy of the brain. I’m just arguing that these notions (about the reptilian brain, the limbic system and the neocortex) are popular (...so don’t give me any flak about using a wikipedia article to illustrate them). What I am arguing is that they are a part of our popular culture. The reptilian brain is a handy (and sciencey) metaphor for our baser instincts. This is clearly the metaphor for which the President was reaching.
Odd! Why wasn’t this the first thing Snowden leaked?

Do aliens exist? Most likely... taking into account the vast size of the universe -- or multi-verse.
Have they visited planet Earth? Unlikely. But who knows....
