"Trans for pay" - very interesting topic. 10/12 years ago in Pattaya i met a very attractive (and very busty) ladyboy. Age mid 20's, she had been working in one of the big cabarets and escorting for 4 or 5 years. She spoke good English. Her feminisation (primarily implants) was an investment to help her raise money to pay off loan on house she was buying. her plan was to have her implants removed at age 30 and go back to being a (gay) boy.
In the original "Ladyboys" docu, we see one of the girls featured working in an abbatoir. The choice presented was: be a boy in exhausting, dirty work in rural Thailand or go to Pattaya and earn money much more easily by being a ladyboy cabaret dancer + escorting. Not surprsing that many gay boys would choose the latter. I wonder if it is even chosen by young thai heterosexuals but have no evidence?
At least, the boys in Thailand have some choice. Information from Brazil shows young gay boys from the poorer north being enticed (at best) or kidnapped (at worst) by traffickers to big cities and then transformed quickly into "mini travestis" by hormones, silicone and implants. then forced into bonded labour/prostitution to repay the "bill" to the traffickers. I can supply links if anyone wants them as proof of situation in Brazil.

Thanks so much for this insightful response. When I created this thread and had these ideas I never even considered this side of it. The "forced" aspect. I was mainly thinking about people making a business type choice. Already gay, maybe slightly fem, seeing how life could be easier for them, so on.
The alternate thing. The being kidnapped and forced... Whoa that is scary to say the least. I for one would be extremely interested in reading the articles you mentioned. The world is a scary place.

Not saying it's common, but some yeah, why not? It's human nature, people will always look to buck the system.....99% of TS, MTF and FTM, probably do it for psychological reasons though..

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the famous story in the poker world in which a guy by the name of Brian Zembic was offered a "prop bet" of $100,000 to get a pair of boobs and keep them for a year. There was a movie about poker with Drew Berrymore, can't remember the name but he had a bit part in which her date points him out and tells the story of how he came to get fake boobs. People need to remember that in most cases the Trans thing works in reverse. Many people dont transition because they cant afford too. Lots of people aren't - and I dont want to sound nasty - aren't beautiful, so if they were to transition they are not getting sex work jobs or in a lot of cases any jobs. Thats why you see late middle age men transitioning at retirement age because they simply couldn't afford too when they were younger.
