LOL... MacShreach... well my ancestry is considerably irish too - and happy to laugh at our shortcomings but as you note proud of other things (literary heritage for one - Yeats, Shaw, Beckett, Synge, Wilde, Heaney etc etc)

ive always enjoyed my visits to Dublin, and it is a lively place.
(and as a generalisation from my experience) where they love their drink, and a long story and are quick to fight. Even the children and elderly walk around with blackeyes and scratches. In fairness, I originate from Croydon and its a shithole, i prefer Dublin...
