You always pay in one way or another, but other than the experiences I had with escorts in the past, it was nothing crazy. I mean, it's one thing to think you're the shit and so you're not going to come out of pocket at all, but I don't think that's where most guys are coming from when they say they don't want to pay.

I've paid for dinners, entertainment and gifts here and there for girls I wasn't seeing as a client, and it never bothered me. At the moment, generally in western societies there are more guys than girls at birth... but by adulthood the reverse is true because guys are so good at killing themselves off by doing stupid things (just look at all the videos on youtube or break showing teenagers hurting themselves with stuff that, you'd think, common sense would tell you not to try).

But I am not convinced that the "exchange of services" has always been the way it is "since the dawn of man" per say, because anthropology has so many examples that seem to be the reverse of that generalization. Look at all the past societies that were matriarchal, where the political/societal power lay with the women instead of the men, and there have even been societies where the men were the ones that were socially expected to be vanity-obsessed to attract girls (instead of girls being vanity obsessed to attract guys like our culture seems to be).

Easy answer why; Transition is ridiculously expensive. The best looking transsexuals have usually invested *at least* 30,000 dollars in surgery and hormone therapy over the course of several years and usually need at least $15,000 more to complete the final surgery.
