If I was to judge white people strictly based on what I see on television, then would I be speaking about you? Just is the case that the rappers you see on television do not represent the blacks in urban centers. Some (maybe) but not all.

Pointing the finger because you were suddenly wrong but someone of another race is not rational manner in which to judge an entire culture. Your a victim of your own biggorty. Remember- the judge loves the sophist and favors the liar. Your own words will favor your own ignorance unless you exercise careful reason and temperence next time you think.

Rap is ridiculous. It´s all what some folks wrote before me here: pseudo-poetry, one-button-music and eternal stupidity that teaches young black people to stay nothing for their whole life while some neo-slave owners (today also African-Americans) make millions on them. I´m a huge jazz fan and I´m glad there are a lot of great young black Jazz musicians out there like Ravi Coltrane, Reggie Washington or Nicholas Nayton.

Rap is the ultimate way for white racists to categorize black people as criminals. And sure, there are a lot of stones put in the way for black people to get a better life with fair chances, so it leads many young Blacks to Rap. I think black people need to be a community, to help each other and not to act like idiots with that Ghetto crap where they kill each other. You should learn from the jewish people and I think it´s not ok from J to look down like he never had problems in his life and never met someone who said something stupid to him because he is Jewish.

I hate categories. There are good in a super market but that´s it.

Like I said before, many people here only listen to all this mainstream rap . That's all they have to judge things. These same people don't listen to The Roots, Common, or Mos Def. By the way, all these artists don't endorse violence or degrade women. I could write a list of many others. These artists don't get the financial backing like the mainstream artists. Corporate America finances what you here on the radio or in a club.

And yes, screaming over guitars is not music to me. Hendrix is rock. Blues is the origins of rock. I listen to more music then you think I do. I'm well-rounded, and educated.

Solitary Brother started this thread with his rant and hasn't replied to the enormous feedback he got, to this date! Apparently he didn't get the response he wanted.
Blacks want to call Caucasians "Whitey", and eachother the "N" name consistently, yet are offended if a white person uses the "N" name. Maybe we don't like Whitey. Where does it end?
All races have some very poor "Role Models", while each have many tremendous personalities that should be emulated and praised, instead of shelved in lieu of fanatic trash talkers. I'm not sure that I have an answer. It is true there are some who are rascist - often they have the least reason to feel they are superior. I do have some questions. I see on the Web claims that young black males have a very high probability of interacting with the legal system in a bad way. Is this true? If it is true, why is this the case? Are the laws unfair? Do black males not get it that doing a crime is likely to earn you some time? I suppose there could be claims of unfair enforcement, but there does seem to be a high rate of crime within communities that are heavily black - true in the US and most European countries.

Poor schools in the urban community are often decried. But, I note that in many states urban schools get more funds per student than in rural communities. There do seem to be more discipline problems in urban schools and more vandalism in urban schools than elsewhere - why is this?

I notice very often that when things don't go just the way a black spokesman wants, the reason is attributed to racism. I wish I had this ready excuse since most of my problems and disappointments are caused by bald, paunchy white guys too!

Why does the black community align itself almost exclusively with the Democratic Party. Though the Democrats promise them many things they still seem decade after decade to be mired in the lower income strata. The are being passed by dirt poor Asian immigrants and now Hispanic immigrants. Despite the strong alignment with Democrats they highest profile black politicians are Republicans - Rice, Powell, Clarence Thomas. Isn't the most REAL help to the black community as far as role models coming from the Republicans?
