I'm sorry, I have a dumb question. I looked for the answer in other threads, couldn't find it, so I'm asking here.
Most GIFs I see on this thread are around 1MB, yet when I try to contribute with a GIF of my own, it says the file size limit is 145KB.
How do I upload a larger gif?

You're better off it you try to hotlink to the gif. As long as you comply with the site rules, you should be fine.
In other words, when you click on the Insert Image button, click the "From URL" tab and paste in the address of the image.
