I think he means Caucausian as in the people who live in the Caucasus mountain region, in what used to be the Southwestern part of the Soviet Union, which is now independent countries like Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. But I'm not sure.

No. The Russians are the Russians. The Caucasus region understands the ex-USSR republics of the South Caucasus region - Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan as also the whole area of the North Caucasus with many different ethnic peoples of the mountainmen. All these peoples are considered in Russia as the Caucasians, but not the Russians. As also they have a different look if you compare them to the Russians.
