Great thread, Thanos. Just catching up to it (I'm so used to the Stickys being announcements for events that I can't attend :? ).

I like the suggestions on SPAM limitation/annihalation (Sp?*). I know of one forum that has a sort of membership application/review now that weeds out the spammers. Somewhat of a 24-hour waiting period or somesuch. I've also seen the graphic 'password' windows, where the person has to type in the letters/numbers from a graphic image that can't be scammed by cut-n-paste search scripts. While these methods may not entirely eliminate spam, they add a bit of an obstacle course of entry that many spammers are too lazy to navigate.

At the very least, figuring out some way of discounting the "Me too" posts. I've recently noticed that a handful of regulars like myself, Ecstatic, Seanchai, etc. have more than 3k in posts under our belts. Yet, in each case (And I'm not just tootin' my own horn here, I leave it to others to toot me. :wink: ) the posts were typically relevant, well thought out, detailed, and entertaining or informative (Did I use enough adjectives there? I can run down to the local Stop-n-Rob and get more if needed.) Yet there are a few members that are near or beyond that number of posts with the majority being variations of "Yeah", "Co-sign", and "LOL".

Ferchrissake, people, if you have the time to peruse the forum you have the time to type out more than "LOL" in response. Cutting and pasting/quoting the previous poster's three-page diatribe, followed by your own "Co-sign" doesn't count. :x

Though I work regularly with a bunch of technogeeks (To the point that I realized, just a few days ago, that now that one of them is famous, hanging out with him is a legitimate, deductible business expense. Woo-hoo!), I still haven't quite grasped how IP's, 'mac addresses', etc. operate. That said, trolls, like mice and squirrels and other undesirable rodentia, will migrate to the easiest source of sustainance. In short: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS! No matter what kind of exclusion and sanitation you use (To those unfamiliar, these are popular pest control terms), if they find a nurturing environment (ie: People that they can consistantly and regularly piss on/off), they'll find ways to get in.

I don't recall seeing that here at HA, but I have seen it elsewhere. Nothing spectacular or privacy-threatening, just a members list with basics like date joined, number of posts, links, etc. Essentially just a library of profile pages.

Another forum I frequent has just started using this feature. It highlights the initial post and has the option to jump to the last post in the thread (For those hot topics that gather 100+ posts in the first day). This also helps sort out spam in that the topic might say "Hot T-Gurls In Action" while the initial post sez "Lower your mortgage rate now!".

I'm with Johnny on this. Politics and Religion is all about a slugfest, be it in ideas/idealogy, words, or fisticuffs. I was soooooooo glad when it was banished to its own section of the board. I still peek in now and then, but generally stay out because I have enough stress issues in my life. P & R is all about difference of opinion, challenge, and argument. By nature, there is no moderation. Short of people making distinct threats to one another, the mods are best served by just staying out until they see/smell smoke.

Excellent idea, though you are likely to see two avenues here. Example "How do I protect myself during anal sex?" (A health issue) and "What's your best advice for a first-timer to anal sex?" (Could be considered both a helath issue and one of social/general discussion, ie: Technique/preference).

I disagree with this one, LG. First of all, we'd have to have a board-qualified definition of what constitutes English (what about jargon, l33tsp3k or however you write that, Eubonics, etc.?), and what would be so bad about some folks conversing amongst themselves in their own language? Use bablefish for a rough translation if you must know what they're on about. Though maybe a separate forum for farangs would work, lol.

Splitting into multiple subforums is always tempting, but the dilution tends to work against itself as most people tend to hang in the main forum, I think. So some additional diversity would be good--including maybe finally splitting the porn pics out from the general discussion--but I wouldn't want to go too far.

Guilty! And I think she's pretty pissed at me as a result (And I said =GOOD= things). This is hard to enforce. At best, you might be able to limit it to a names-have-been-changed etc. policy, but people aren't completely fucked in the head (Except for names-have-been-changed-etc.) and will suss out who is being talked about (I mean, c'mon, we all know who "Blondie" is in the respective threads).

Truth be told, I like the recent 'war story' thread that the gurls have been posting to. I have been taking notes as to what =NOT= to do on a 'date' and it also gives an insight into what they have to deal with on a daily basis. I just threw some things out there, that's what the idea of the thread is, to throw ideas out and see who agrees/disagrees and you made excellent points on several things I posted, thanks for that..........

I wouldn't have any new rules to suggest, but I do have an idea about improving structure.

If I were NYCe or Thanos, I'd make a new catagory called "Hung Angels", where every girl that has that designation would essentially have her own sticky thread. That way fans would know where to go to find out what specific girls are up to, see new pictures, or whatever. Obviously, the girls all have there own sites, but this would be more of a general database directing people where to go to see more.

Basically, encourage personal mini blogs/threads from each Hung Angel.

The HA girls would, I'm sure, continue to post in General Discussion at times, but this would make things more organized. Ecstatic has already posted a pretty concise list of most of the girls who post regularily, so there you go.

I think that having their own, exclusive threads would be incentive for the girls to post more frequently.

I'm in total agreement with this one too. It's kind of hard to fight human nature and everybody isn't going to like the same things. Sometimes though, some people get crazy with it. Someone will start a "Big ass" or "Big floppy dick" or whatever they like thread. Someone almost always comes in and says something negative. Always kills the vibe.

On another note, if Gen. Discussion is broken up into sub-forums, it should have a "new threads" feature where you can basically see ALL of the new threads.

I know what you're saying but I think you didn't get my point. I've seen it in many threads- people communicating in French, Italian or German- and it pisses me off. If you want to get a message through to only one person, use the PM function.

I don't mean not using Ebonics or jargon (although sometimes that too can get annoying if overused), I mean getting a message across in a way that everyone reading a thread will understand. I don't want to click on a thread and get 2 pages of French or Italian along with bad translations made via google or babelfish.

Often the foreign languages are used for flaming or insulting particular members. Therefore, we must disagree- I think posts in the threads should be in English. Those who have difficulties in English can be forgiven for bad English, but posting a load of gobbledygook of (often bad) French intended at hurling abuse at another member annoys the fuck out of me.

As for putting porn pics separately from the main discussion, I'll agree on that.

EDIT:I just realised that I'm the one who first suggested it in any case, so..erm..I'll definitely agree on it. It was a brilliant idea, wasn't it? :lol:

Mippleboy ( :wink: ) has a cool idea here. Perhaps a distinct section where each gurl can post thoughts, comments, schedules, etc. specific to her. Though it is somewhat represented in the personals section as it is, it could be more focused/specific in a 'Blogosphere' type of thread.

I think it was upwards of 2+ years ago we had this feature? It's a standard component of the phpBB sw, but for some reason it was disabled. It was a very useful tool for finding any member, when they joined, how many posts they have, etc. That was back in the day when megabody, seanchai, me, and maybe 2 or 3 others had all of 1000+ posts (and iluvshemales had the totally inaccessible record of 3000+, now long since eclipsed). I would love this feature just to add in compiling the list of transwomen who post here!
