Last night on BBC1 - so no ads - "Rabbit Hole" starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart. A sensitive and moving study of parental loss with excellent playing by the leads.
Just saw with my gf a huge, surrealistic farce, "Ted", with Mark Wahlberg and cutie Mila Kunis. It's the silly and idiotic tale of the friendship between a guy and his talking teddy bear. I know how it sounds, I felt exactly the same way when I read the synopsis: "Please! God! No!" But in the end, I must admit I had fun. It's enormous, of couse, the "meaning", if you want to go as far as calling that, is as thin as a paper sheet, but I had fun. If you watch it and do not in your case, blame it on the whisky -which by the way was a 12 yrs old Glenlivet, and that's enough to deserve forgiveness...

Yes, I saw this one a few times on pay tv. I just didn't want to see it. It's too tough. I'm not tough enough for such a subject. Loosing a child must be draining all life out of you; parent's worst nightmare. There wouldn't be a second of hesitation for me to accept death rather than having my child die. To me, this is simply utter horror, and I can't even get myself to see it on film... I might be a bit nuts...
The Hudsucker Proxy
I didn't like it much. It's clever, but the Coen brothers have sort of a mean sense of humor I think. Or maybe it's an absurdist sensibility. They are very effective at showing people behaving arbitrarily...it's just not always enjoyable to watch.
