Cook County IL is Chicago and the surrounding areas. People that Obama is close friends with and endorses, run cook county. I don't mean to be a downer, jus saying he hasn't done anything for IL so I couldn't bring myself to vote for him.Quote:

Looks like Prop 8 in Cali went down.
All and all some good shit happened tonight folks.
Hail to the new Chief. And props to McCain for his class which he showed in his speech and in quelling the misguided boos of some of his supporters.
I don't know about you, but it feels good to be an American once again. For the first time in eight years.
Okay...I get on the 710 south to the 91 east...I take that to the 10 east...95 south...yup, I can make it before 11:00. :twisted:Quote:

I predicted a landslide months ago but my heart has been in my mouth all day.
I'm not American but I have a lot of emotions and business invested in the USA - from a purely self-preservation standpoint, if McCain had won, they were going to go after the adult online industry (recorded statements by Palin & McCain).
Personally, this is a truly monumental occasion. In one day, the United States has regained it's respect to international onlookers and given themselves a direction to follow and a goal to work for. It's not only that he's black - or that he's young - it's that he's believable, he's calm and collected and he speaks to me. He's Presidential.
Congratulations to the USA.

This is a historic moment for me and everyone in this nation. I am so excited I cannot sleep.

Now I'm going to shed a few more tears of joy and then get some much needed sleep.
Love you all!! Yes!

first time I was able to vote. Great time (besides the two hour line).
Thank you, man! We did it!! :)Quote:

I spent the last few days worrying we'd see another too close to call due to the way the states are laid out, I'm so relieved it's gone so strongly our way.
I may not be thrilled with the local government efforts, but I'd hardly blame Obama for that.
So, yay!... go Obama... celebrate your heart out, for tomorrow the work REALLY starts...

the best example of "May the best man win" I've ever witnessed. My comment, "Fuckin a Tweetie Bird!"
338 electoral votes of 537 is 63% so it's a mandate and a landslide! And we control the congress this year. YAY!Quote:

Congratulations to President Obama, and much respect for John McCain and the classy way he handled himself in his speech.
Although im skeptical of any major party nominee,I couldnt help but feel pride and most importantly HOPE for the US's future as I listened and watched Obama deliver his victory speech....hope is something we have all been missing for the last 8 dark years.
I hope Obama can live up to all the promises and aspirations his platform has made, and can further restore worldwide respect to the USA.
God bless America and President Obama.
We danced like new year's eve, we danced from sheer relief, everything must change.

Congrats are in order for your country. Like my friends and I said, we have never had more hope for this world.
Today I am more proud than EVER to be an American.
Tonight proves that you can be WHATEVER you dream of.
Today Americans made a wise choice for our country and for our standing abroad.
Tears ran down my face when I watched his acceptance speech.
I was a momentous and magical occassion,
Barack To The Future!!!
Chicago Guy, the President is essentially the governor of the entire country. My point being, the responsibility to bring about real change in a city or state, belongs to the executive branch (mayors and governors). The legislative branch can only facilitate change by passing prudent laws and not being a piggybank for lobbyists and their agendas. Even with that, only the speaker of the House or Majority Leader can really lead on new legislation in that government body. Do you realize most of the issues you mentioned plagued Bill Clinton, when he was governor of Arkansas. The educational system was one of the worst in the United States at the time and poverty and crime were off the charts during his reign and he was the governor, not a Congressman or Senator. Yet, he still became one of the best Presidents of the last 50 years (personal weaknesses aside). Bill Clinton had the vision, charisma and work ethic to bring about change and I dare to say, Barack is even more potent in those areas than Clinton was. Even Reagan governed California at a time when gang violence and unemployment were rampant. He also served 8 years as President, when failing schools, crime, poverty and unemployment in rural, poor and minority communities ran rampant. However, "The haves" aka Wall Street made a mint under Reagan, so he's considered a godlike figure among Republicans. I'm not even 35 yet, but I don't remember poor folks thriving under Reagan, Bush Sr and Jr, as a youngster. The GOP's preoccupation with war, defense spending and tax breaks to the wealthy, will always mean the shaft to the poor and working class American citizen.Quote:

Clean energy and the total revamping of the country's electric grid are two things Obama is looking into. Barack understands the cyclical nature of money. He know that people will spend more, when they make more. Versus the GOP's "well hire more people, if we pay less taxes" nonsense. Problem is, these greedy bastards take the tax breaks and still ship the jobs overseas, so they can increase profitability and earn larger bonuses.

Same as the old boss'
Obama? McCain? Both the same! I'm sorry but nothing will change for the better, as you will see as time goes by. Zbigniew Brzezinski is the real winner tonight, he can get on with his plans unhindered now...
Thanks for your 4th post.Quote:

I voted against Bush every time and both times he slithered in like a snake from Hell, I was convinced he would run this country into the ground like every other endeavor he had comically undertaken in his life. Well, challenging times call for those that can meet those challenges. At last we have someone in the White House who is in for the content of his charcter, the righteousness of his spirit and the wonder of his vision. We have only begun to see what we as a truly unified nation are capable of. Be glad to be alive. It is morning in America.
fuck yeahs!

Remember -
Larry Summers, Robert Rubin and Paul Volcker were all part of in the 90's what you now know is the Real Estate Bubble and Bust.
They don't belong anywhere NEAR the Federal Reserve Building.... Or the Tres. office.
Yay, socialism! America, you did fine. Tax my ass for making over 100 or is it 300 grand a year. Either way, I pay for the societal sloth americans have become.
Why don't we have pampers bill me directly.
