Moderately cheaper shooting rates versus MUCH less interest in purchasing Brazilian/S.American content compared to N.American. It's not unique to the trans niche. It's much harder to be profitable.

Your first question, I'll answer with two questions a) Do trans people have access to other jobs/professions? I don't think that's changed at the same rate that we are seeing more trans people around and
b) Your assuming that people are taking jobs as performers as they don't have other options.
We see more applicants year on year to model for us.
How come most TS porn is American, I answered above but simplest answer is that is sells better. Realistically there is very little TS porn made in the US or other places though, so it wouldn't take much to skew it elsewhere.
I can totally see that in effect.the viewers want to understand the dialogue and stuff..ive noticed on the chat/cam sites that even though the Latina/s.american girls might be smoking hot but a girl speaking with the viewers in English who is kinda hot will have tons of viewers..
Hey Steven Thanks for doing this AMA.
1. Any predictions on the industry in the next 3 years in regards to mainstream cultural acceptance of trans and porn influencing the grooby sites and shoots?
2. What happened to individual girl sites? There use to be 3 or 4 new ones a year, but now it seems harder and harder for a performer to set up their own site.
3. Have you ever had any special projects or websites that you thought would be great but turned into disasters or total money losers? What happened and why do you think they didn't work out the way you intended?
Thanks for all you do and I too have been a member off and on for 20 years.
Do you think Grooby will be around in 10 yrs? Also, why the name Grooby?
Apologies if this questions' already been asked; You've got Brazilian T-girls, is it ever possible for a sister site in Colombian T-girls?
So many stunning girls there.
OK , I know that Allanah and Buck have already done this ( excellently ! ) , and I may be in a very small minority here , but is there any market for scenes of T-girls and T-men getting it on ?
1. Not really. I don't see them really as being much in sync. Anyone with a passing interest in trans women and erotica would have found in online by now. I don't see mainstream cultural acceptance creating a whole new wave of people interested in seeing trans women porn.
2. They're just so hard to run. 'Back in the day' - a model could put up content and make a good site and do okay from it, but as piracy and competition moved it, it became more difficult - add to this that most girls were to incapable/lacked motivation to run their sites properly (update daily, engage the members, free cam shots, etc.) then they just became too much trouble for us to run. It's easier than ever to run your own site now under a platform like ModelCentro, ManyVids, OnlyFans etc. but there are also a lot more girls competing for the same customers. Why join a site with one girl on for $20 when you can join a site with 5+ updates a week and multiple girls for $30? Only sites that do something very different (ie; Krissy4u) or can carry a large fanbase which the model engages in (MiaMaffia.xxx) can do okay.
3. There have been many - AsianAmericanGirls.com - I love those models, but failed completely as unable to attract enough people, I think it owes us $90,000. Transexdomination - we didn't really have what it took to producer that content, it still owes us about $90,000 also. There have been more. We keep trying new things, some things stick and work well (Femout.XXX, Tgirls.porn) others not so.
Thanks
Nothing that we're going to produce for the current sites. We've had a couple on GroobyGirls I think - and the reception for that type of content is very cool. Trans man porn hasn't really taken off very well and the way many expected it to a few years ago, which is a shame. Who is it's target audience?
'Groovy.com' was already taken and as I could only afford one domain name to encompass a group of sites (when we started in 1996) then I took Grooby. Domain names were about £80 then I think.
It's served us well.
We've been around 22 years, unless there was a drastic shift in the legalities or the ability to market and sell content, I should hope we've another 20 years.
Hopefully answers some questions that people had.

Hi Steven. Love your work.
Theoretically how easy would it be to do any of these:
a mike Adriano type video including ass and titty worshiping even cock worshiping then sloppy bjs and anal sex. With two or more girls possibly
Also an amateur allure style video would be awesome.
Also a big gulp girls type POV bj scene when they finish the guy off and swallow. With really facially pretty girls.
Considering how easy it is to set up a page on tip based cam sites these days has it became harder to find models? When you do is it now a case of doing a scene for your company to bring exposure and drive their cam fan base?
Thanks for answering the questions. OK since this is Ask Me Anything I have to ask do you have a harem of girlfriends or girls that you date? It seems like you know all the hottest performers and could have your pick of them to date. Also great work and I really enjoy the latest GroobyGirls and Tgirls.xxx material and new faces. It seems like the ladies get more beautiful every year. Thanks
Great article. It is admirable that you and the company were willing to do something that could affect your business (since SEO is important for you) because you knew it was a good thing to do. It's neat to see you support the transgender community in this way.
Are there any career opportunities for behind the scenes employment? I'm 58 looking for a career change.
yo..whose dick is naya simone sucking in those ol' black t-girls vids..???
Not really - it would very hard looking for job opportunities unless you were bringing something unique to the company - ie; a producer able to get models where there were no other producers.
Most people are hired B2B or from friends of friends, with a contraction of the industry there seems to be plenty of editors, webmasters, etc. available.
:-)
I think even if I did have my pick of them to date, that the girls might have something to say about wanting to date me!
I have been lucky and have some really good friends among the trans girls we've worked with over the years and being able to go for drinks or lunch with bonafide superstars is something that I'll always be grateful for. I'm a fan first and foremost - spending an hour having a drink and chat with John Stagliano at the AVN this year was a fanboy moment, as is every time I see Joey Silvera.
For dating, I used to be a bit crazier in my late 20's/early 30's when the company started but I keep a pretty low profile mostly.
I think they are two separate animals. While some cam performers can do extremely well, others can spend hours to make only a few dollars. The smartest girls, seem to work all angles - they take the guaranteed paid shoots when available (for the guaranteed cash - and as you stated, to drive their base back to cams).
It's not harder to find models, sadly, we have too many models great models and we're unable to accommodate as many of them as we'd like.
Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the reply. My observation would be there are at least two important variables to a cam girl. Looks and personality. The ones doing best financially seem to have both. Then they don't quit when the success isn't instant.
Steven-
I understand the sentiment behind the rebrand of Yum to Grooby Girls and Shemale.xxx to Tgirls.xxx as it seems that you are making a conscious effort not to use "shemale". Can we expect the same for the Japanese sites and Shemales from Hell?
Hi, i have another question. what are trans porn stars like in private, or in "normal" life? are they hyper, or just down to earth? i ask since i see madison hinton's facebook/youtube and she seems pretty cool when doing errands and shit.
Most of them are real people. Well they're all 'real' people but most of them are just like anyone else and go about their day to day life like that. There are always a few assholes but most are grounded and down to earth. Aubrey, Natalie Mars, Morgan Bailey, Foxxy, Venus, Yasmin etc are all people I've seen outside the studio/shows and very cool. Lot's of the girls are involved in non-porn type things. Madison is very very cool.
on the basis of their social media that isn't private, it always seems like they are trying to live the jet set/high profile life. plus, on the occasions where I have been able to meet the more famous girls, they have always been on the job so it is difficult to ascertain their "real" personalities. Their porn persona would have you believe they are all dick-starved nymphos, but I guess that is the point.
Q: what ever happened to Tony Vee? Did he retire from shooting all the lovely ladies of new york?
ShemaleClub has also been around a long time. Are they just healthy competition for you?
