The French are very protective of their culture. It has nothing to do with fear of Sharia Law. They have restrictions on the use of foreign languages too.

our culture is at risk and a leak becomes a flood as islam slowly invades .the nazi's never acomplished this feat.but islam will with the lefts help
What culture would that be?
America is the world's great common petri dish.
The west already lost it's culture to a Middle Eastern desert religion; Christianity.
I'm not real crazy about that term, "the west".
As an American, I resent being lumped in with Europe.
There's the west, and then there's the wild west.
But your right, by Western Civilization, I was mostly referring to the Greco-Roman civilization whose legacy is the science, mathematics, art, architecture and political philosophy that eventually served as a foundation for the European Enlightenment and many American ideals.
Greco-Roman civilization took a nose-dive when it was completely dominated by a viral Middle-Eastern desert region known as Christianity. During that time the geometry, the sciences, the very concept of freedom and democracy was lost to the west and kept vouchsafed for us by the Persians. Not until the Renaissance were those ancient western values revived in the west. For a long time afterward, Europe was a kind of monster, half-western and half-eastern.
Because the original thirteen colonies were European, we've inherited the viral religious affliction that felled the Greeks, felled the Romans and infected Europe during the fever sometimes known as the Dark-Age.
Today that disease has a firmer hold on us then it does on modern Europe.
As an addendum let me say, that disease is also protected by the first amendment, as any other religion is and should be.
