Its amusing actually. They talked about taking back what's "OURS" complete with the rainbow flag etc. (Yet "WE" as Transexuals women dont even consider ourselves to be gay.) LOL. As I recall, not too long ago Allanah was refused entry at a club in NYC cos theyre having all gay night party. Which meant "WE" as transexual women doesnt belong or considered gay or IN their community. Though we still belong under the rainbow flag come Gay Pride. LOL.
Its kinda a double standard thing I think. In the gay community, MOST gay people dont like Transgenders..i.e. Transexual, transvestite, crossdressers etc. I know alot of gay people who FROWNS at too femme gay boys. The one who sway their hips, wear some make up etc..calling them too gay or too queer. Its Sad! Nothing againts gay men..Ive got gay friends myself.
But, Im sure others have their own interpretation. Anyone care to share?
I definitely have to agree with some of this. It's actually been noted that when it comes to fighting for equal rights and rallies, gays and lesbians will be more than happy to include transgendered people. That's because they know the more active, visible support they have...the better "their" chances. When it comes down to being realistic, they have no intention on included us in anything. I've seen and been through personal matter where gay men get upset because they think you have an "unfair advantage" at the men they want.
I think the gay flag and the whole LGBT grouping is bullshit anyway. The rainbow in my opinion is supposed to express diversity yet a sense of unity. Without one color the others can't exist. Yet there is more backstabbing within "our" own community than anything. Also, why are Bisexuals included? LG&Ts have legitimate hardships and discrimination to deal with. Bisexuals can just pick and choose when it's convenient for them.
Lastly, and I've always had issues with this. When referring to transgendered people, I think that should only include people who actually TRANSition. Transvestite may have "trans" in there but they are still just dressing up.
Transvestite: a person and especially a male who adopts the dress and often the behavior typical of the opposite sex especially for purposes of emotional or sexual gratification
...Same with crossdressers
Transsexuals actually go through change.
Transsexual: a person who psychologically identifies with the opposite sex and may seek to live as a member of this sex especially by undergoing surgery and hormone therapy to obtain the necessary physical appearance (as by changing the external sex organs)
The gay community has some much animosity towards transgendered people, but when it comes down to large gathering...or Halloween...how quickly do we see those same guys dolling it up for the night?
Just my brutally honest opinion...nothing more, nothing less
