I agree with Katieftv.

For me, Tgirl is a generic term that applies to any number of activities related to dressing. If pressed to define labels, I would go with:

Crossdresser (CD) - Dresses in one article to full outifts of women's clothing without shaving or using make-up or styling hair or adopting mannerisms that are considered feminine. Dressing is more a sexual fetish than anything else.

Transvestite (TV) - Dresses in full outifts, shaves, uses make-up, styles hair, adopts feminime mannerisms, but does not take hormones or have any surgeries to look more feminine. Does not dress full time as a woman. Dressing can be a sexual turn on or not, depending on the person. Sexual preference (again depending on the person) can run a wide variety from only being attracted to women (while dressed or not), being attracted to women and Tgirls (while dressed or not), being attracted to women and Tgirls (when not dressed) and men (only when dressed).

Transexual (TS) - Dresses full time. Lives as a woman. Can either take hormones or not and have surgeries or not. Dressing is not a sexual turn on. Most of the time is attracted to men. In my mind, all transexuals start the path to SRS, but some stop short because they value their original equipment too much.

Shemale is a term invented by the porn industry to describe transexuals. I pretty much consider it a term not used in polite company and would never tell someone they were a shemale.

Ladyboy is a term invented by the sex trade in Thailand to describe transexuals working in the sex trade.

New-Half is a Japanese term that seems to apply to both transvestites and transexuals. It is used both in the sex trade and by Tgirls just posting pics of themself on the internet.

Tranny is a label I'll let the Brits weigh in on.

Hiya Cass and thank you so much for your contribution and support not to mention your accurate description of each group.

I am more or less in complete agreement with all your descriptions. I slightly dissagree or should I say my thoughts are with some of the things you describe with TS's. IME a transexual may be is aiming to be full time but may not do so for some years after starting down the road of taking hormones and change. Likewise I have TS friends who prefer females to males sexually and as partners.

Most of my TS friends dress as normal every day women that is flatish shoes, jeans and longish skirts. They don't dress to attract the opposite sex in a sexual inviting way. I also have a TS friend who is in Thailand as we speak to have "the op" and breast implants. My TS friend has a lesbian girlfriend and they are very much in love.

Sorry I am nit picking here and I very much support your contribution and descriptions. We must not forget however that in the USA they do appear to have different ideas and descriptions as to the various forms of transgenerism. Listen and read to some who post using the word tranny as you say :roll: Often referring to Shemales as they call them as trannys. Lets not go there hey :wink:

Thanks for writing back. The "colors" of sexuality are endless (otherwise Tgirls wouldn't exist). :)

I personally haven't had many in depth conversations with transexuals. Of course some will like genetic girls. And the road to SRS is long and difficult, so I can easily see how someone heading down that path couldn't dress full time in the initial steps.

I agree that most transexuals dress "down" while transvestites can dress pretty flashy. That's what makes me think that transvestites receive some sort of sexual boost from dressing while transexuals do not. The way I look at it, transexuals consider dressing in women's clothing as a "means to and end", while transvestites consider it the final goal.

I in no way consider your thoughts as "nitpicking". I welcome them and enjoy the discussion. When I was younger, I very much wish I had the ability to reach out to people like yourself to have discussions when I was trying to figure out who I was and how this part of my life could be balanced.

re "how this part of my life could be balanced." Been there bought the book, video, DVD and record. However I have come accept I am what I am after years of torment in my early years.

What I will say is that as a ermmm mature TV the younger ones of today have it made. The internet and the fact more and more venues are appearing where the transgendered may go comapred to when I was a young TV. I myself often go the Manchester gay village here in the Uk but only ventured out a little more than 3 years ago. I just wish it had been there as it is now some 30 years ago. SIGH!!!
