It may not all be from Japan, Honda. After the anime invasion of the early eighties (Yah, I was part of that) large numbers of new artists in the comic/sf/fantasy genres adopted the style and it's become a huge part of the market. The phenomenon was already building steam with the appearance of the Elfquest series in 1977 featuring the art of Wendy Pini, who was strongly influenced by the classics of Tezuka et al.

The Brad Foster mini-comics, Goodies, has had tons of anime-influenced comic porn over the years. Personally, I'd rather the non-commercial Japanese product or the Japnimation influenced US product, because they tend to have less of the goofy censoring so prevalent in anime porn in Japan. I mean, c'mon, even covered in Pantone shading, it =still= looks like a dick! :lol:

I guess I hadn't thought of that, B1. I suppose alot of people are doing art in a more "anime" style lately, even The Boondocks has a "Japanimated" element to it.

I've gone through some hentai or anime phases at times too, but the stuff from Japan I really love is the old science fiction serials (I was going to type sci fi, but then you, Ecstatic or some of the other purists would yell at me, hehe). There's this one show, I think it was called Ogonbat but I can't say for sure because I've only seen un-dubbed, non-subtitled episodes. The basic idea was that scientists find this guy in the ruins of Atlantis and re-awaken him or something. He had a skull for a head, wore this glittery Liberace looking outfit (with cape) and used a magic scepter as a weapon. He'd also fly around and begin laughing like a lunatic before he engaged in battle. I think he'd shout out his name, as well.

The production budget was so dismal, one episode featured a villian that was mearly a "giant" hand that would come out of the ocean and pull cargo ships under the water. It was one of the most absurd things I'd ever seen. They don't make shows like that anymore! Good stuff.
