Nona Hendryx - who I saw in concert last night with a host of fantastic jazz, soul and folk musicians in a concert in the Meltdown Series, conmemorating the Civil Rights movement. All produced by the great Hal Wilner. She did a scorching angry sulphrous version of "Strange fruit."
In 1980, Nona Hendryx performed additional/backing vocals on Talking Heads' Remain In Light album.

This is my favourite band of the so called new wave of thrash bands.
The vocals are more hardcore scream orientated plus some clean singing on the first album. It takes getting used to,but the instrumental parts are superior.
