Re: Kissing the Girls..Ok?
i know we as black people use the word (especially those of us who are from an "urban" background) so some people of other racial backgrounds might be confused and think they can use this word also.
the reason why we started using the word was a way to reclaim it and de-stigmatize the usage.i feel strongly that if you arent of african or african american decent you have no right nor reason to use the term nigga/nigger/negro for any reason.this wasnt a term that was use to insult you or your people so you really dont need to reclaim it or whatever

The position is invalid. Transsexuals are not a race, so the comparison is apples and oranges from the beginning. Secondly, many people try to draw comparisons between the plight of the black race in America and other groups but there is NONE. It is a unique situation that's why the use of that word and the sentiment behind it is different from ANY other word. Thirdly, you can't prove a lack of racism by showing you got black friends. The fact that you think you can speaks volumes! Strom Thurmond had a black mistress that he took very good care of-- therefore he is absolved of any racism. Yeah, ok.

It was a Jew who told you to do that :-)
It's a word, a series of letters, despite the history it's still the context in which it's used (and often to demonstrate how abusive or attacking something is) which is the most important.

For you it may just be a word but for us who have grand parents and elders in our community who remembers not only the hate with which they were called that word but all the discrimination/segregation of that time it isn't.
Tell holocaust survivors and their descendents that the swastika is just a symbol or the numbers permanently marked on their skin is just a tattoo.

My point exactly. When a swastika is used as party of the Nazi party or white supremacy then it's context is take for what it is (which is entirely different from where it began). You see swastika's in Buddist temples all over the world. You don't ban tattoo's - or people having tattoo's with numbers on it because of what it has been used for in the past?
I don't think that's really a good argument, the same as using the history of your grandparents or relatives to say it's ok for you to use that word but others, without the history cannot. It's relative to the usage of it.
Re: Kissing the Girls..Ok?
Once again, the difference being race and skin color as opposed to a group or an act. If a then B does not mean if B then A! A person can be white without being a white supremacist but the only non black white supremacist I know is Clayton Bigsby! When I white person says the N word they are ALWAYS a white person saying the N word. That IS the context. Even more so a white person from Texas.

So in what context would you use the term nigger sir?
I'm sorry but try using that word around a group of African Americans and i promise you they aren't going to care what your context is.it will never be acceptable for you to use that term.

As nasty as the word is, you sound like someone stuck in a victim mentality. What is this? The Oppression Olympics? It's not a competition. Bigotry is ugly all the way around.

I agree. I've met Blacks that get crazy about it, but I've also met those who could care less. Despite this, and my response to Sucka4chix, just because the controversy about the word is overplayed these days, I also agree that it's unacceptable for non-Blacks to use it. I tend to physically cringe when they do. Words have power.
