I have my own money and I still like gifts and being taken care of. That's the way I grew up. All the women in my family earned enough to be independent but the men were the main bread winners. The women stayed at home and raised the kids until they were in a private high school, often a boarding school. Before that, mom takes the kids to their games, piano lessons, etc. Being a mom and the woman is a busy role. But the men are the doninant force and the protecters. Women were strong but the men are stronger. There were no divorces and everyone grew up happy, healthy, and sane. The only one who strayed from that basic model of family was me due to gender issues.

This is our life we are not genetic women. we go trough surgeries, sex change can take up to 6 months in cases a year to get back full strength, paper work changes, birth certificate, courts, i visit the doctor every 3 months, hormone complications such as live failure, kidney failure, blood clots, medical leave can take along time, what do I do then? But some are about who you are, your name or something unique to you. So they will more than likely pay your asking rate if not give you more, which is what I do get from people who are fans of me and my work.
I used to be a manager of a high-end retail store and even women who had enough money to pay full value for the products I sold, would ask for a discount. Everyone as I said is looking to save a buck if they can. So it's not a sign of being cheap, it's a sign of understanding your own finances. You can't blame people for asking for a lower rate, I was taught that you never know til you ask. It's not something personal against you, trying to state that you are worth less than what you are asking, but rather just someone trying to save themselves money in the process. I am sure that all of the escorts are guilty of the same thing. It's like you see a dress in one store and the same dress in another and the one store has it on sale while the previous one is still full price. Are you going to pay full price or the reduced cost? More than likely you'll pay less so you can have more to spend on other things. Just how living in this consumer based society works.
It's obviously a little different in the case of people, as we're all unique and there's not another who are like us, but don't take it personal because someone thinks you charge too much.
