I'm kinda confused. Are you saying that I should just keep my mouth shut about the Federal Government (Irregardless of whom the president happens to be; this process began long ago, way before Bush.) gobbling up more and more of our rights?

Ben is not a hypocrite, if you read the political section you would see that he hits the republicans pretty hard...I doubt very much he votes republican, I'd be shocked to find out I'm wrong. Since most of us on this site are from the U.S...I guess you're calling us all idiots (although technically you're American also).
I don't call all Canadians stupid...but you most certainly are.
I, actually, am not a Republican or a Democrat. I don't support either Party. On some issues I'm conservative. On other issues I'm quite liberal. I'm critiquing the structure of power. That's the basis of libertarianism. I'd call myself a left-leaning libertarian. There are tremendous problems with power structures. Whether they're State, Church or Corporate. I attempt to understand those power structures. (Part of government is to serve power. And the most powerful institutions in our society -- and Canada, too -- is corporate power. That poses a problem for democracy. When government is serving those power interests they're neglecting the public will. And this gave rise to the Tea Party and Occupy movements.)
A lot of people vote Republican because the Dems are seen as soft on defense. Which, to me, is understandable. After what happened on 9/11 a lot of Americans want a robust and strong defense. And, again, see the Democrats as weak. Are they? Well, that's for you to figure out.
And, too, a lot of people want smaller government. And feel in their heart that Republicans will give them a smaller government.
And, too, fiscal conservatism is important to Republicans. Again, I'm not endorsing the Republican Party. I, again, don't like either. I'm merely explicating or explaining why people vote Republican.
And, too, religion. Republicanism is also seen as being sympathetic to Christian ideals.
I think the Republican Party has swung way too far to the right. I mean, go all the way back to Eisenhower. He would be considered on the extreme end by today's standards. He had the top rate of income tax at 91 percent. Yep! 91 percent. So, that was the highest marginal tax rate. And remember this was a Republican President.
Yes!
And here's Howard Zinn (who would be called "far" left) explaining patriotism, true patriotism:

I like this Obama. Um, where is he?
Obama sounded like Ron Paul w/ respect to foreign policy... :)
Obama should be more like Paul. Again, with respect to external affairs. Ya know, a humble foreign policy. And LESS belligerent and bellicose.
Bellicosity gets us nowhere with advancing peace in the world. Unless "peace" is bombing other nations in perpetual drone attacks.
