That was in the Sopranos, can't remember the episode just now.
I love the music of the Louvin Brothers.....even their crazy fundamentalist Christian stuff. Fanaticism could be put to good uses if only the fanatics would mind their own business and stop trying to get others into their club!

Marvellous Elgar Hippiefried. For me the tonalities of his music catch something that is quintessentially English. I don't mean the bluster of the Pomp and Circumstance marches, but rather the haunting hints of church music and an aching melancholy. Lovely stuff. If you like this sort out his Wand Of Youth suite.
Moving on a century this is probably Michael Nyman's finest piece of music. Nyman's film music is usually irritating. But this was written for a TV documentary about 20 years ago about the aftermath of a terrible earthquake in Armenia. A really haunting piece of music sung by a religious choir from Armenia.

Same thing I listen to every day while working: iTunes Radio > Electronica > DI-House .
After noon though we'll change that to something a little bit more upbeat. Hell, I created a couple pretty sick Pandora stations featuring Sak Noel (as a base) for 1 and Wonderland Ave for the 2nd (shit that was playing when I first moved to MIA in '06). Great stuff ;P

The Who performing at Tanglewood in Massachusetts in the summer of 1970. Incredible stuff. Keith Moon is amazing to watch. Townshend is on fire. I've read that he has said that he considers this show to be perhaps their best live show ever. The entire show (including all of Tommy) is on YouTube, and you can watch it as a playlist...BUT, if you click on the link in the description, you can download all the files necessary to burn it as a dvd yourself. This is The Who at their absolute peak.
