No overlap as far as I've ever seen.
We don't even hire crews - we have freelance producers and they usually only work with one trusted assistant. The dynamics to be on a porn set and the amount of things to be aware of with consent, safety, etc. are quite different.

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Steven, thank you for responding to my last question, your answer was very interesting and informative.
I have a somewhat follow up question and to be clear I more than understand if you choose not to answer the question.
I have known and know two transgender woman, one is more of the traditional story and one has a very unusual story.
The first transgender woman that I ever met lived across the hall from me in the very first place I paid for myself after graduating college. We became friendly over time and to this day, we keep in touch. She is very much the traditional story, parents could not accept her, she moved out, started to transition, turned to prostitution to make money, then porn, but she was never truly happy.
Now she is mostly doing cam work, onlyfans, escorting and the money is better, but she is still very unhappy and I am afraid she will never find happiness. When I visit her or talk on the phone I can tell that she is just not fulfilled in life. I often worry that one day she will commit suicide, though to be clear she has never ever mentioned anything to give me any concern.
The second transgender woman that I know is my current wife, she is very unusual, came from a very wealthy caring supportive family. Went to college and law school, after graduating law school, she came out to her parents and started to transition with both their emotional and financial support.
She is now a partner in a mid-size law firm making very good money, living her best life.
It is in my opinion her loving supportive family and their financial means which has spared my wife much of the pain of the previous woman that I wrote about.
Which is a very long preamble to my question, in your years of experience are the actresses whom you film happy or is it merely a way to survive?

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Hahaha sorry the foot guys are such a pain. I think Grooby does a great job across many of the sites to feature feet and ass. Was just wondering if you had looked into it and you have. By compilation I mean for instance taking 3 videos of 1 of your models, for instance top rated Daisy Taylor and editing them down into 1 Compilation video of the model. I have seen onlyfans girls do this and just wondering if you looked into it. Also congratulations on your new VOD site. That looks excellent and a great idea.
I couldn't get behind the tgirl tops but was intrigued and enjoyed some of the sets, just not my thing. Sorry to hear the loud recommenders didn't stay on board.
Cheers and Happy Father's Day to you Steven

If you mean a video of just Daisy Taylor from across the sites, we release them in our TS Superstar series (see them on GroobyVOD), where we take good solo and hardcore scenes into a DVD compilation. If you mean just feet scenes, then no, not yet. It's been talked about but it's a bunch of extra work we just don't have the time vs reward for right now. We're expecting AI will be able to help with this.

I've known girls from every walk of life. From wealthy and priviliged to those who have far less, and the one factor in girls who seem to be happier and have better mental health, is the acceptance of family and being brought up by at least one supportive and loving parent, and that can cross any boundaries.
To answer your question - most models want to film - it doesn't matter if it's countries like Thailand or Brazil where the girls are mainly sex workers. Of course, they want the income - but also being photographed (and seeing how great you can look) is also empowering and they enjoy being in front of a camera.
The vast majority of Western models we work with are happy to film. It's something they want to do. It empowers them, and also validates them. As counter-intuitive as it may sound, we won't work with models who appear unhappy or not really wanting to do the shoots, or just for the money. We reject applications of potential models coming to us, because they 'need the money'. As much as I sympathise with them, it usually creates awful content, and apart from a short-lasting cash injection to that model, doesn't really help them long term, especially if they come to regret the shoot. We tend to find more Black models who are solely just needing the money, and this isn't really a surprise (I've talked on this before with the lack of opportunities).
I think it's fairly easy to tell from our shoots, which girls are happy and enjoying the being the center of attention - and enjoy working in this industry.
I think it's pretty easy from our shoots to

Steven, you are our fearless leader, and with the state of boycotts of products like Bud Light, suicide rates of trans people, and murders, is there any message you can say to trans fans and trans models? Is there anything we can do?
It seems in some ways the best of times, because their is acceptance and publicity and recognition in more places and trans are in movies and tv shows and the news, and the worst of times with boycotts, new laws in strict states and outright violence. Do you encourage us to go to city council meetings or write our politicians?

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Steven, once again thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer our questions.
Over the years, I have had a question of appropriateness and I never have know the proper answer and you of all people should hopefully be able to shed some light on the subject.
Circa 2018, I was sitting in the gate area of an airport and noticed a young lady walk into the gate area, I recognized her as a one of my favorite transgender porn actresses and I started to look for a piece of paper to get her autograph and then I stopped and started to think twice about my decision.
I began to think to myself that she is there in her every day life, travelling on her real name and not her stage name and may or may not want to talk with a fan of her movies, furthermore I would not want to out her as transgender, so I decided that discretion was the better part of valor and just decided to smile to myself and go about what I was doing prior to noticing her which was reading a magazine.
Maybe 10 minutes later a very awkward sort of man walked into the gate area and sat down directly across from said transgender porn actresses and after scanning the room he looked straight at her, then pulled out his phone, did something, looked at her again and then at his phone again.
He then got up from his seat and walked over to saying very loudly saying hi using her stage name and then loudly enough for the entire gate area to hear him how much he loved her films and how is such a fan, now folks are staring at him (and her) and he continues loudly how he never imagined that he would get to meet her in real life and how excited he is and how she is just as pretty in real life as she is on film.
She had a look of pure dread on her face and probably embarrassment as well as he just goes on and on, with her finally saying maybe you could keep it down a little and then having to say much louder to keep his voice down.
He asks for a selfie and she does oblige him, then the Gate Agent announces boarding and she says, it is time to board pointing at his bags, he maybe gets the message, but regardless he does walk back to his bags still waving at her and just overall being awkward.
As I was sitting in First Class I boarded and do no know what happened after that point, I did not see him nor her again for the remainder of the flight and I presume that there were no further incidents as we deplaned normally upon arrival.
Is it appropriate for fans to meet girls in public going about their everyday normal lives or it is more appropriate for us to see them, but give them their privacy and not make contact with them?
I honestly can see arguments for either answer, but I figure that in your years of experience you probably have a good idea what the appropriate action is or is not.

I don't think it's any different from meeting any 'famous' or recognisable celeb. Judge the situation and see if it's appropriate, and then be discreet. I met Ridley Scott at last year, and I went up to him and just thanked him quietly 'from one Northern boy to another' and he was very gracious, Nikolaj Coster Waldau (Jamie Lannister) from Game of Thrones was the same and just said 'make it quick before anyone sees' for a photo. JB Smoove (Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm) does the same morning walk as I do, and was really great to talk to. And Steven Spielberg actually engaged me on football for 15 mins in an airport lounge a few years ago. In all cases, I judged their situation that it was appropriate to approach them without drawing too much attention or inconveniencing them. I would never approach someone in a restaurant (despite sitting next to William H Macy and Felicity Huffman), I wouldn't interrupt them when they appeared to be in a rush, out with their family or engaged in something else (Kirsten Dunst in a smoothie bar with her kid last week in LA). There are my humble brags on who I've met (there are many more).
So for porn stars. Yes, it's okay to approach them under the same guidelines. I'd say if they were with someone else, to not embarress them as their friend not be aware what they do for a living. To go up to a pornstar in an airport and simply and quietly say 'I really enjoy your work, I just wanted to say 'thank you', if you can clarify it further ('I love you on Groobygirls' or 'I'm on your OnlyFans'and would it be possible to get a selfie with you' is entirely appropriate. It's also fine for that person to refuse and at that point, just move on. You don't know if they have anxiety issues or whatever is going on in their life. If they are happy to chat and take a photo, then great - but don't outstay your welcome - thank them and go back to your seat and leave them be. The most common issue girls have is that they'll take the photo, and then the 'fan' takes it as an invitation to try and become pals.

Hey Steven, good evening from Miami
How much of a hand do you have as far as graphic design and branding go?
Is there a particular "aesthetic" you look out for (or actively dislike)?

That's a great question. For the site designs, our main designer is my brother who has worked with me for about 25 yrs (and known me for another 25) so he's got a pretty good temperature of what I'm looking for without having to give much feedback - and I'm not someone who gets caught on the minutiae. I'm looking for clear designs, which say exactly what they do and sometimes have a little quirkiness and playfulness about them. We're not trying to be slick, or salesy - but honest and upfront (hence the names of many of our sites Tgirls.porn, BlackTgirls, TransexPOV, etc.).
For the graphic designs for box covers and the scenes - I usually select a bunch of images for our designer to use, along with the name of the scene/dvd - and a general gist of what I'm looking for. 9.5/10 she gets it right the first time, without needing for revision or editing. Anne also did our latest pizza shirt. The idea has been around for a while to do a pizza delivery, and it was Anna's first go at a merchandise design, and a little back and forth between us to get to this one.
I like clear, fun and authentic designs.
I dislike designs which have over-touched the models and made them look something that they not, or are disingenuous to what a customer would get.

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Any thoughts on doing something over the top?
(Pun intended)
Like a straight looking guy being strapped down on his stomach, legs wide open 2.5 feet off the ground and a line of 50 ts women gangbang him until his ass is broken and leaking red cumbutter?
Is that even possible or would the authorities come and crack down?

You could do it - but you would lose money on it. Over the top usually costs money and/or does attract the wrong attention.
-
Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
"You could do it - but you would lose money on it."
That's too bad, I love the group scenes (GB's and Orgy) , but I imagine having to pony up for everyone's scene
rate doesn't work for a scene that will be only marginally more popular than a regular B/G.
I listen to the podcast of Bruce from AdultSiteBroker.com. His advice for new entrants in the market
is to niche down to an area with less competition. Kind of like Christian did with his BecomingFemme site.
What do you advise new entrants in the market?
Thanks

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
2 Quick Questions:
1: What models really excite you in 2024 that are your favorite 2 or 3?
2: What has changed in the industry now that trans are way more in the general culture, seems like there would be a lot more applicants than 10 years ago, a lot more want to be models and more admissions, and more models fighting for camera time and video shoots.
Thanks for running a great company, don't know how you do all you do!

Apologies - I missed this. It's almost impossible for a one-person show to open a paysite now. The barrier to entry is just too high unless they've a proven money maker. I'd advise them to start with OnlyFans and clip sites like ManyVids and see if their content sells there. Ignore the feedback on free social media and tube sites (tho it's good on premium tube options) because people getting content for free aren't worth listening to. And then the advice is the same as it's ever been. Don't try to compete on what people are already doing - what's unique to you as a model or as a producer, whether it be your location and availability of models, your own fetishes, etc. Secondly, only do what you love - someone trying to promote and shoot content that they're not into, will almost always fail.

Good questions.
1. Avery Lust is a big star. Others that I've loved this year, Alyssa Bale, Eris Jolie, Paige Turner, June Ferrari, Iris Kiss, Ana Acker, Grace Iris, Cache, Lana Eclipse, but there are just so many. And then lots of girls over the past few years who are still awesome. I just wish there was more budget and more buyers to show more of them, we've girls lining up wanting to shoot.
2. See above. It's a balance between wanting to bring in new girls and test them - and then bring back the girls who have only done 1 or 2 sets as they're much in demand - and then the models who've been around for a few years and still great. Sadly, and stressfully, I get to have the say on that and the bar to make the cut for a first shoot is a lot higher than it used to be (and rising) and some returning girls have just aged out (not in actual age - but have just reached the end of the journey with us as we need to make room for new girls). I don't take that responsibility lightly. I think without question Grooby has been responsible for a lot of the visibiity for trans girls being more in general culture, and many girls having the courage to come out and transition, when they see the wide mix of similar models out there. Prior to what we did on 'ShemaleYum' by introducing different body types, styles and looks, there were only pornstar looking models for a girl to compare herself to.
thanks - we've a great team that punches above it's weight and has a love of what we do, most of our staff have been with us over 15 years.

Thanks you for the response, Some great advice there, I appreciate that.
I have been posting my vids (Vids of me in action, Never anything stolen) on the tube sites for a few years now
and some of the vids were popular, I had one get 2mil views. Two years ago the tube sites started demanding
IDs and performer forms so most of my stuff got wiped. It's hard to get a 2257 and ID pic from some guy you meet on Grindr.
Now I am ready to start for real. So I put i will into practice what you advise.
If you are okay with it, I may start a thread detailing everything that is required to go from slutty amateur
to actually selling content here.

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Is it possible to set up a set with 25-35 ts women and have them gangbang me and end with a gokkun? If all are tested and still free I'll do it for free.

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Can a bottom only man be in the industry?
If so, would the bottom guy need to cum in all/most scenes? Or could him not cumming, unless it is hands free, be his ‘thing/gimmick’ for his porn persona?

A good friend of mine is interested modeling for the Grooby sites. I know there is a process and it's not a sure thing that everyone interested makes it, but she's very sexy, has a great attitude, and I think she'd be amazing. How can she submit her photos to you and what types of poses/stills would you be looking for?

Usually the first test is finding the model application ...

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Thank you for the great answers.
Your answer about not enough space and there just isn't enough sites and shoots to go around has me thinking and here is my follow up question:
If you were given a gift with the intent to expand the genre and help the girls out who want to do more work, but can't would you create a few more websites or expand the existing sites?
Is there any plans for expansion and if a billionaire gifted Grooby $1million how would you spend it... It is Christmas hahaha.
Cheers and thank you again for your great production works and companies.

$1M wouldn't go far. We've spent over $1.5M on content (probably closer to $2M adding in Franks, and the Brazilian sites) in 2024. It would be nice to think we could increase the models and producer payment some, but $1M wouldn't increase it by that much for each scene.
I believe we've covered most bases and can't really see us adding anynew sites unless something extremely interesting came along - maybe another country if they opened up to it (China, India, Australia) - and I think there is a need for a good BDSM site, but there are legal and billing complications with them, as well as cost in production and getting authentic content, so we're not really looking to create more websites. There is a fairly low ceiling on qualified buyers for this niche (people who have the ability to pay - ie; are in a country that has payment cards, and they have the income to do it PLUS people who will pay - ie; are happy to pay for getting quality). and we're pretty much at the top. Adding another site would likely just cannibalise what we have not, and not bring in extra income but create extra work and costs.

Unlikely.
Personally I don't find their aesthetic very hot and they're just a bit ubiquitious across cam and tube sites.

Re: AMA - Steven Grooby (Ask Me Anything)
Hello, sir.
Obviously security of the websites is very important. Most important, really, especially if they are within a niche of not-so-regular porn [customer data, all that shenanigans]. Have you guys had some mishaps in this area, people trying to breach in, scam, hack, etc?

The hacks come on the side of the payment processors like Epoch or CCBill, not the content side.
