It is the same reason someone throws change to a beggar, donates to victims of natural disasters, gives to a homeless shelter, helps out at the local soup kitchen, etc. etc. etc.
I cannot believe this thread has been made into such a big issue.
It is one person (three) asking for a little help. The OP isn't needy, begging, or anything even close. The donation page isn't needy, begging, or anything even close.
This 'kick someone when they're down' mentality is just idiotic. What in the world does it cost you, whether you believe the OP or not, just to say, 'Hey, that sucks. Hope things get better.' rather than be a complete, insensitive ass with a post like this?
To be frank, I'm not the biggest Fan of some of Jamie's posts in the past. It is not my personality and I don't condone some past behavior. That being said, we should all be able to at the very least offer condolences when something like this happens.
Would it have been different for all of you if someone had actually gotten shot and died? Is the fact that nobody got hurt here the 'pooh-pooh' factor that makes this all OK? If Jamie was soliciting for funds to help bury Tiffany
Starr, would your thought process be different?
Think on that and then ask yourself about your responses.
There's a big difference between the guy with one leg, and a sign..will work for food sitting on the interstate off ramp and a "buy me some tits", "pay my rent" series of posts. Get real. Almost everyone offered condolences, glad no one was hurt, etc.....
Don't compare victims of natural disaster to 3 ladies being robbed for a minimal amount of money.

If i am going to donate money to strangers then its going to be to starving africans on less than a dollar a day rather than 3 well remunerated people in the world's richest country.
OMG... smoking gun. You got me. I am dying...
Interesting enough, if you're donating to starving Africans, it is more likely that you're lining the pockets of corrupt politicians and/or bureaucrats, so I hope you're actually going to Africa and handing your dollars to a starving one or at least doing your homework on the charities you donate to.
Kudos to supporting your local dictator though! Much more fruitful, I agree.

Regardless of how, you made a comparison. If you don't understand your own argument, then I guess I really can't help you.

Did I mention... LIES?!
I thought the Borderlands were calling you? If I listen really closely, I can hear them cry, 'Krissy, Krissy!'

Incorrect... I am far too lazy to do so but the majority of the posts here are not condolences or given as an afterthought after a backhand... as yours was. Someone count them up at this post and prove me wrong.
OMG... you people cannot read... or at least, cannot comprehend what you're reading! I have NOT, in any way, said this was ON PAR with victims of natural disasters, or anything as serious. Please QUOTE it for me if I have. That is an entirely different contextual debate.
Regarding Jamie and the OP, I have simply stated, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything and move on.

Well as soon as Jamie herself takes your advice, maybe others will follow...

Sadly, I have no argument for this and quite honestly, it is the first thing you've said that actually makes sense. One does reap what one sows.
So, the next question, is can you choose to be the bigger person, take the high road, and offer a sincere bit of well-wishing? That's all I'm saying.

Context is everything. If you don't understand the context of the argument, then I guess I really can't help you either.
Completely different debate... went off on a tangent with @Winston93.
